k. well communication technology is kind of my thing (except fiber, i've spliced many times but I still don't get it) so like I told the last guy, there could be something impeding the progress of the higher frequencies in your system. most plants assign the NHL network too the highest frequencies available to them because nobody is watching it, and the higher the freq the more the signal will drop over distances. it's also highly susceptible too loss from old splitters (like CVs GF) and water.

tiling is almost always a signal issue, not the converter box. so even if it's intermittent a decent cable guy can find and fix the problem.
