Well I think Vanek's performance has been better than Miller, but IMHO, Miller has gotten us further.

Vanek leads the league in botched chances.

Vanek has been head and shoulders more important to the Sabres this year. Take each guy out of the lineup. Team couldn't score without Vanek. Team could still win without Miller. That's not a knock on Miller by any means though.

We can score without Vanek. We've done it before.

Want me to bring up the games that Vanek hasn't scored in? Because one game without Vanek where we lost isn't a good argument.

If Miller got injured for the rest of the season, I don't think we would make the playoffs. If Vanek went down, it's not as severe.

because the nature of the position means its dependent upon the play of the rest of the team, i dont think you can call a goaltender a team's mvp unless they have an anomalously (that's a word, really?) good year like miller did last year

I just don't think Vanek is our supreme goal scorer. Boyes has 18 goals, Ennis has 18 goals, Pominville has 18 goals, Stafford has 26 goals. We have plenty of goal scorers.

Well Boyes has 5 goals and 3 assists in 10 games...

I don't think the Sabres' season has mirrored any one player more than Tyler Myers. Horrid start, picked it up later to really turn it on. He is the linch-pin of the defense, bringing some serious physical play and great offense from the back end. As much as Vanek has done his job with the loss of Roy, I think others have stepped up offensively as well. Miller is having a bit of a down year, though he has kept this team in it when they needed it most. But I still think Myers has been dominant much of the latter half of the year.

So on the year, is that like 30 blown grade A scoring chances for the "MVP"?

And he'd top a hundred points if connolly and pominville didn't fuck up about 30 scoring chances from vanek this year.

Or maybe they would have more points if not for his over dramatic passes to nobody.

Can it be anyone but Vanek?

Though I'd say Pominville is definitely a candidate, too.

I feel like Pominville hasn't been the same since his injury. :/

I think the easy choice is Tyler Myers.

He leads the Sabres in game winning goals, which means he's been directly integral to 10 points on their season.

He plays over 20 minutes per game every single night.

The Sabres went on their surge when Myers improved his play.

Where would our defense core be without Tyler Myers? Who would pick up those minutes?

Without Myers, this team is toast.
