I have a bunch of old NHL cards that I'd like to surface my coffee table with. But I don't know what to use to affix them to the table with, and I don't know what to use to surface the table with over the cards.

Any experience on here?

for a base use something hard like metal, wood, masonite, etc. depending on how big this is going to be. To affix them, double sided tape would work, or a spray adhesive. double sides tape would be my preference since you have more control over where they go and you could, in theory, get them back up if you wanted to shift it. beyond that you could go without any kind of adhesive and just use the pressure between the top and bottom of the table to keep them in place. I've done this with picture frames and it works out great.

as for the top surface, id go with plexi glass. its not only a lot more durable then actual glass its a lot lighter.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure I have spray adhesive, and maybe double sided tape as well. How much does plexiglass cost?

depends on where you get it from and how big your making the table. check hardware stores or see if there's a glass supplier around you.

Also not sure what would look better, cards face up for the photos or face down so the blurbs are readable

Get two sheets of plexiglass so if you get bored of the pictures up, you can just flipped the entire glass part.

How about a resin? It's a hardening agent and resin that you mix together, pour on the serface, spread and then it self levels. You can find plenty of videos and what not on how to do it and it costs about 16 bucks at Home Depot or Lowes. You set your pictures on the table and basically just pour the mixture over them....protected and preserved forever. I have done tables and bar tops with it and it's great stuff. Did my buddies bar top and poured the stuff over his collection of beer coasters. Turned out sweet.

Sweet, any recommendations for specific resin products? What section of the hardware store would I find it? Prolly gonna head out pregame in a few hrs.

I'd say go with the top side (Non stat side) of the cards. Or, you could do like a half & half just to mix things up.

They have half and half setups of random baseball cards at most of the Tully's I've been to.

At Lowes it's in the paint section...near the varnishes and stains if I remember correctly. Should be in the paint section at Home Depot too but just ask someone for self leveling resin or just plain resin. Ask them what brands they like and so forth. I can't remember what brand I use. Before you do it pm me and I'll give ya a litle FYI before you DIY list.

that probably won't look as good. you'll need trim on the outside of it because the paint will level on a sharp edge. you can use an angled planer to fix that too if you're good at woodworking.

No Mike Ramsey...HERESY!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually have a Ramsey, but I don't have doubles so I didn't want to glue it down. All the Sabres I glued down were the ones I had doubles of. Then the rest are NHL players that are/were big or semi big names.
