Except for#3 (which I agree with, but am still annoyed at hecht for sucking for a year) I have to say ditto to these.

Although I also agree with Irony, that second period was altogether scary bad, sloppy, lazy play. The guys thought they had this in the bag and stopped playing immediately after the third goal. They were spurned on again by the isles scoring, but still...they got comfy and they stopped, and that is a red flag.

Hecht has actually looked really good with his new line mates.

I soooo want to go back to saying what I used to about him in that he was a reliable, steady presence on the ice and a guy who made few mistakes and produced good numbers. The last two years he's taken a rough tumble down the slope of sucking and i for one would love (duh) to see him back in his old form, but I'm reserving judgment despite the fact that he's played his ass off this season so far.

I thought Connolly stepped it up tonight, too. Got a goal and an assist, and looked to be a bit more active.

Favorite moment was Biron's welcome. It put a huge smile on my face. I will always love Marty, and apparently so will the rest of Buffalo. Pancakes!

the second period raised a huge red flag to me. yes, the team played well enough to get a win, but that was a bad period. and against the isles. your excited, and i am too, but you might want to put the parade plans on hold for a while. lets see what happens in 15 - 20 games.

Um.

If you aren't so quick to judge us, then why are you so quick to judge the Isles?

Personally, I think they're the best team we've played thus far.

Their record may not indicate it, but they were faster than Montreal, Phoenix, Nashville, and Detroit.

The point is we got the win, in convincing fashion, despite playing a team with good offensive fire power that was hungry for their first win.

of course they are going to have periods and games like this. but i felt the isles were very much in this game, much much closer then the score indicates. im just not ready to go all in.

had the isles post shots gone in, and roloson showed up, the two points could have gone to the isles.

My favorite was absolutely Marty's welcome, with the cheering and the chants... I loved that. Now that he is no longer on the Flyers, I don't feel obligated to dislike him, and apparently neither does anyone else in Buffalo.

Second favorite waaaas Myers's first goal. Awesome. Sauce.

And third.... Kennedy's audibly calling out, "Hey, Griersy!"

The Islanders are not a terrible team based on their record alone.

They took the Pittsburgh Penguins to a Shootout and held them to 2 goals.

The Islanders really just need a few better defenders and solid goaltending and they would be a very tough team to beat.

They also were one goal away in three of their 5 games they have played. The Islanders are still trying to find their first win, they are going to take tons of shots and try to score as many as possible no matter how many they are down or up.

i never said the islanders were bad. but they arnt up to par with the sabres.

the isles are going to be a good team, and soon. what they could do, and should do, is get dipi healthy. hes a good goalie. then peddle biron off to a team that needs goaltending for defense. suddenly, with an extra defensemen, that team becomes a legit playoff contender.

Manning the machine gun on the Tyler Myers Bandwagon - just in case any teams have an idea of prying him away from us (3 GM's shot already)

Connolly/Roy - 2 goals in the last 47 playoff games

Chilax, no team dominates every period of every game. I agree that this shows we can't just go on auto-pilot and expect to control the action, but we will have those kinds of periods now and then. We came on strong in the 3rd to close the deal, so let's keep it in perspective.

right, we can't dominate every period.. That was a bad period for us and we still scored as many goals as they did.. Last year, we would have had a bad 2nd period and kept up the same effort in the 3rd.. At least we pulled it together for the last 20 min..

Winning so I can gloat a bit is always nice :D

I think the game nicely summed up the kind of season we look like we're going to have, and what we've been missing. Grit, heart, promising rookies and everyone stepping up offensively. I was so proud of Jochen. Maybe I'll take his autographed photo out of the sock drawer now.
