Yeah, stuck with that.

Guy was pushing a Thunderbolt, and I wasn't biting. I know there's no LTE and it's at least 18 months out here.

I'm sure I'll move towards an LTE phone once the service is available here. I just can't justify paying the money for a component that I won't be using.

I made out OK though. I dropped $300 on the 4, and sold my 3GS for $150 to a friend of the sales guy. (And dropped my bill by $5 a month. :p )

I did ok.

My long term plan was to go to Verizon. I was going to wait until the summer and switch when the 5 came out, but if it's going to be 6-8 months from today, I can't wait that long.

Even though the 3GS is on sale for like $50 with AT&T, they still make you re-up on a 2 year, and I don't want to do that. I'm out of my last contract right now, back on month to month.

Tom, swapping the battery out of an iPhone 3GS is pretty easy. I've done it myself. I think a replacement battery is under 40 bucks for that phone now, too.

It's just a matter of making sure you're taking good care of the screws and what not while you take it apart. Lots of youtube videos to show you how.

I know it's not difficult. It just didn't make sense for to invest money in a new battery for a phone I was getting rid of within 6 months anyways.

Read an interesting observation on the Thunderbolt.

Brand new, out of the box, on a 4G network, the thing only gets 4.5 hours of battery life. In addition, there are no options to step it down to 3G to save battery life.

Major downer there.

You would hope. I'm not surprised that the first LTE phones would have battery issues, but 4.5 hours is crazy low. My 3GS was smoked and it was doing 5+.

I'm not totally shocked they don't give you a switch to turn LTE off since they want to say how awesome it is, but they're going to have to do that eventually.

Only way to turn the 4G off is a third-party app. What a design flaw by HTC.

Yeah, that's really bad. That was important on early gen 3G phones for battery considerations. Not so much now, but still. Man.

The original HTC Evo at least has the option to turn off 4G.

You can get extended batteries for it.

Just ordered my Iphone 4 16gb (verizon) last night to replace my Blackberry 9650.

I think i'm done with Blackberry. I really did like it...until I tried out other phones. It is very good for business and security, but the software is outdated and it is a horrible media device. I need a good browser.

My larger point is that you shouldn't HAVE to buy an extended battery to cross the 4.5 hour mark. That's insane.
