I'm not naive, I realize that the Flyers are a great team. The fact that I wanted this match-up is due to the fact that they have the least experience/talent in net as compared to the other few possibilities in the East. Having said that, their goalies are actually pretty good, and it's not absurd to think that they could steal a game in this series.

I'll also concede that besides Gaustad, the Sabres are going to have to really suck it up in the face-off circles. Richards is great at them and Giroux is surprisingly good too, among others. So, the boys are going to have to study some film and roll up the sleeves for this series, it's fucking critical that they at least win 48% this round, and better than 50% in the defensive zone would take a lot of pressure off of their young defense corps.

The Flyers are cocky, arrogant, bullies that feel entitled to win the Cup because of those "qualities". They will fail.

They are not the team that has played some of the greatest hockey in the league for the past 3 months. The Sabres are. They don't have a highly decorated veteran goalie looking too add to his trophy shelf, with his eye fixed upon the Stanley Cup like a fat kid spying the last pancake on the table. The Sabres do.

Fuck the green men. Fuck their obnoxious moronic followers. Fuck Pronger's repressed homosexuality. Fuck Laviolette's hacked system. Even the name of their team is a made up word, and so are they.

This series isn't about how good they are, and what they can do. It's not about their over-hyped "top six" or their over-rated "scoring depth". This series is about the Sabres, and their amazing young defense that has risen together into a force not to be fucked with. It's about how they have banded together despite all the odds to be in the playoffs and battle for the Ultimate Prize. And they are not going to let these...degenerate...nut gobbling fucktards stand in their way! RAAWWWRRRR!

The Sabres don't need a lot of shit to think about, they just need to win their share of draws and play their game, and they will win or be in every game vs. the Flyers.

But just a few things to consider:

Hartnell. He's a douche bag, we call him Fartsmell in Pittsburgh because he looks like a fart and plays like a sack of shit snacks. But he's really good in the playoffs, if not kept in check. This is the player Kaleta needs to target. When Hartnell is not using his head, he REALLY loves to take dumb, very dumb penalties. You want to try and make him look bad in front of his butt buddies and fans. You want him looking for revenge, he is the weak link on that line and he can bring it all down.

Mezzaros is actually a good guy and not a typical Flyers douche nozzle, but his inflated numbers are wiped clean now and he will be made a victim in this series. In a word: OVER-RATED. I'll take anybody on the Sabres defense (except Morrisonn, sorry dude) to play on my team over him. Hit that fucker, make moves on him, take him to the net, get it behind him, and make him rush his decisions with the puck. Laviolette counts on him for steady play, rattle him and you uproot his faith in that entire defense. He might even make the forwards cheat less, and that is what we want.

Play Sabres hockey, stand together, and stay focused.

Play Sabres hockey

Sabres advantages: A better, more experienced goaltender, slightly better defense, on a surging streak lately.

Flyers advantages: Better offense than the Sabres, more grit (I guess?)

We can take these guys.

I think Kaleta is going to be really valuable to us in this series.

This is going to be a greasy series. If our bottom six can put some unexpected pucks in and Miller can shut down the odd-man rushes we WILL be giving up, than we definitely stand a chance. A predict no less than 6 games, however.

This is what I don't get.

All the talk on the NHLN was how much Chris Pronger in the lineup will be the huge thing that turns this series and then both panelists pick the Flyers in 7 games.

So if Pronger only gets you a chance in game 7 (according to these guys) why call him such a game changer?

I mean just come out and join the "Pegula Push" as they dubbed it...it really is a freeing feeling.

My prediction....Sabres in 6.

If you let a guy like Pronger intimidate you, then he becomes an extremely disruptive player. If you are fearless enough to keep going after him and just treat him like he's nothing special, and just let the refs call it however they want, then he is not nearly as effective.

That's easier said than done, because he is really intimidating. But there are rules to the game that even in the playoffs they have to call and eventually they will if you keep going at it, never stop pumping those legs and fighting for the puck.

We've easily got the advantage in goaltending. Miller looked great in the time he played. Plus a lot of pressure will be on Bobrovsky. Like it is for every Philly goalie when it comes to playoffs.

We are not better defensively. The Flyers are much better than us on offense and defense wise and they take the cake in gritt. But we have been playing awesome hockey since Pegula took over and it seems like something special has to happen this year. I just feel it. If it's not the Sabres winning the cup than it has to be me getting the call for a kidney transplant but bottom line something good will happen!!!

The Flyers are 'much better' on offense? Really?

BUF: 245 GF , 54 PPG, 19.4% power play
PHI : 259 GF , 49 PPG, 16.6% power play

Looks pretty darn even to me.

If the Sabres keep their skates moving (like you said) and our passing is on...we're a tough beat. I really don't care how big a team is...if we're making passes like that Vanek pass to Pominville last week we win.

I also think we'll use the "buddy system" to combat the physical presence of the Flyers. Look at the last game. Somewhere in the middle of the third (I think right after the Carcillo head pat) two Sabres crunched him into the boards.

I think its up to the Sabre's offense to make this series Miller v. Bobrovsky. If we're getting about the same amount of quality chances as Philly's getting as the series goes on...Miller v. Bobrovsky?

Like I said, Sabres in 6.

I'm not worried about the Sabres being intimidated. Little Gerbe goes after guys like Chara for shit's sake. No way in hell anyone can back down from Pronger when the little guy is doing THAT.

They may not fight all that much, but they're not going to back down.

The Sabres aren't backing down. They got bounced in the first round last year. I expect them to come out swinging.

The biggest thing is the records over the teams past 20 games or so.

The Sabres have been 16-4-4 since February 23rd. The Flyers have gone 7-7-6 in their past 20 games.

We're rolling right now, the Flyers aren't.

And how HUGE is last years playoff experience now?! Especially for guys like Sekera and Myers who know what to expect and how to handle it. And they know how long that off-season is too, and they don't want that.

I think those records reflect the conditioning of the two teams, the Sabres have been fighting for their lives for a long time now, and the Flyers have been complacent. However, nobody know more than Philly how meaningless the regular season is, and I don't expect them too be lolly-gagging on the ice. Last year they got in on game 82 then went to the Finals. They know that everything is brand new now, and they know what it takes to get to the Finals.

They just wont be able to do it this year, because the Sabres will play better.

Shameless self promotion. It's an article detailing the performances of each Eastern Conference team in their last thirty games heading into the playoffs.
