Connolly was solid in all 3 zones, but the team got schooled in the d-zone:

http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/2 ... 030121.HTM

Giroux was 7-11 in the Sabres zone, Richards 2-3, and Danny (too good for Buffalo) Briere was 4-4. So, we gotta bear down in the d-zone and figure some things out on the film. Because that is the critical area.

Having said that, Gaustad of all people was the weak link in the d-zone. So there is certainly hope for improvement.

There were a couple of times Goose won draws that got called back, and then they'd go the other way.

Well 5 for 11 isn't good enough either. Not by his standards.

how the hell did James Van Dick get 1st star? How does having 0 points and failing to score a goal beat out a shutout goaltender? Phucking Philly.

vanriemsdyk had 6 shots on goal and a lot of philly fans thought he was one of the best on the ice. no problem with him getting a star, first star is a bit much though

Drury was the one who wanted out of Buffalo and was also the one that the Sabres tried to reel in, they basically ignored Briere until they got a definitive no from Drury which was a believe a few days before free agency and then they threw a bogus offer at Briere that was kind of insulting in my opinion. Briere wanted to stay and they went for the wrong one :(

Right, except that for now on he's a douche bag money grubbing flyer traitor who could have stayed if he really wanted too. Actions speak louder than words and leaving is one thing, but becoming a flyer is unforgivable.

I'm ecstatic for the win, but we need a much better effort in Game 2.

We didn't play "pretty bad." It was a great road game.

They can be better, but the way they took away the middle, killed off penalties, played physical, stayed patient, locked down a 1-0 with over 10 minutes left in a game...

This was a solid effort on the road. They can be better, and they will be better, but this game was not "pretty bad" by any stretch of the imagination.

Naw bro it was a pretty bad game. Obviously we are gonna look at the positives and such because we want to defend our team and all. But truthfully last nights game was a "pretty bad" game. A goalie who faces 35 shots a game in the playoffs in regulation is usally not on the winning end of the spectrum. The Kaleta goal was nothing but luck. They can be waaaay better. They were flat in last nights game. All I've got to say on Miller's performance is WOW!!

Is it me or does it seem like over 1/2 the calls against us in last nights game should have never been called?

Seriously, anybody who is looking for style points after a playoffs road win in Philly needs to pop in an anti depressant and watch some cartoons.

take the win. be happy. look to the next game and do a back flip for being one game in front instead of one game behind.

It was messy game, but well played defensively. I hope all the games aren't played like that purely from an entertainment standpoint. But if they win four games like last night, I'll take it.

Seriously, what a soft shutout that was. I'm so sick of him keeping enroth from the glory he is bound for. As far as I know he's the first goalie ever to achieve a SV% higher than 1.

Did anyone pay attention to what a good job our defense did on Briere last night? Weber and Myers, in particular, completely owned him.
