Sweep the leg. Lol.

I realize now that the refs were actually doing the Sabres a favor tonight by calling everything on Buffalo and almost nothing on Philadelphia. There were times this season, particularly against Philly, where the Buffalo PP was so bad, they were consistently giving up better scoring chances than they generated. So keep swallowing those whistles, refs!

And Butler has been rock solid since he got back in the lineup. Over 26 minutes tonight.

I have to agree. Ever since Butler has gotten back into the lineup he's been pretty darn solid. I guess that time in the press box did him some good.

The thing about Miller tonight - he just played so smart. Read every play beautifully. Great positioning. Didn't need to make spectacular saves because he never got caught far enough away from the puck and the D cleaned up the loose trash behind and around him.

That's basically what I said on my podcast, haha.

It was nothing but a lucky win last night guys. We were in our end waaaaaaaaay to much of the game. Miller can't be tested 35 times a game for us to go into the 2nd round. Our offense didn't show. We were lucky to get that 1st and only goal. No time to get cocky guys. Take it 1 game at a time.

The 33 shots Miller faced shouldn't be the determinant on how poorly the team played. That would require analyzing every shot on goal, because I firmly believe we forced the Flyers to make weak shots and worked hard to not give them any angles. I think it was a solid defensive effort last night all around.

Also, I'm not taking away from Miller's shut out and saying he didn't have to work for it. I just don't think the number of shots he faced should be a factor in how the team played.

That's not even a heavy workload by Miller standards, they can have 33-35 shots every game and I'll feel pretty good about it.

Think about this for a minute;

The Sabres held down a 1 goal lead, for over 10 minutes, against one of the most potent offense corps in the NHL, on the road, by using their drafted, rookie defensemen.

Wow.

Yes indeed. I never would've thought that Butler would be prepared for that type of setting just two months ago. I was on the bandwagon (maybe the only one) that wanted to see Sekera and Butler as 6, 7, or off the roster. I still will worry about them as the series/playoffs continue, because they're still fairly inexperienced, but they've made some big strides. With Gargnani playing well and Leopold coming back soon, it creates quite the quandry with roster moves for both this season and next.
