I'm not familiar with rookie call ups and crap but are the Sabres aloude to call up Kassian? I know he's not playing in Portland but we did sign him to an entry level contract if I do remember correctly that is... We could sure use a mean mother fucker who can score on this team against a hard hitting Flyers team... Just a thought so don't jump all over me with your replies. Thanks!!

montador has had 2.5 bad games and you want him gone?

and you want to bring a kid up 2 leagues and chuck him in against one of the best all around teams in the league?

you should go back to posting with ferret.

Oh, and it's 'allowed', not 'aloude'. I'm not normally a spelling freak, but at least try and get it close. :)

In that post he's talking about Kassian, who is a forward. But I agree with Jam about Montador, roll the dice with an AHL guy at home and spot him in for only about 10 minutes. He's killing them out there.

Oh my bad. Is he also suggesting that Ennis sit a game now? If so, I don't agree with that, but it's tough sledding out there for him, he needs to do more for the team.

Ryan Miller is tall, goofy looking and his name has ten letters in it. What's not to hate?

Still can't believe the reactions. When has Buffalo ever played this physical? Every single guy on the team had an extra pep in their step last night. They tried their damndest. I just can't get over those whose posts state how pathetic the effort was last night. I'm usually the first guy to call that out, but I just didn't see it last night.

Also, I can understand being frustrated with players, like Monty, but wtf. The guy plays his heart out and did well for most of the season and now everyone wants him under the guillotine? The guy has made mistakes, but fuck.

Well, to be clear about Montador he's been turning in some pretty bad games for over a month now, some say even longer than that. He was atrocious in Game 1 but just bad in the other 2. My expectations are for Montador to play steady, reliable defense, and I don't think that's asking too much. He was never the fastest player in the game so it's very important that he read the play at a high level, and right now it looks like somebody threw a Rossetta Stone at his head and knocked him out. He's been careless managing the puck, but he's not alone there. But he's getting trapped all the time now, Philly is just too good to have people out there not playing their very best hockey, it's win or go home time.

As for the effort I think it's been great, but what good is effort without the brains?

I hear ya and generally agree with your opinion of Monty. I want them to win too, but I'm satisfied if they play their asses off.

Anyways, getting back to the frustration and the disappointment for a minute, I think the Sabres will win the next 3 Games, but they will have to do it one game at a time. lol

Here's how:

1. Fix the breakout. Nobody is paying me to study the game tape and come up with the answers, but somebody better fix the breakout and make it effective for Game 4. Better support from the wingers along the boards, more puck support down low, and players like Gragnani, Myers, and Leopold need to skate it too the red line when the ice is there for the taking. Especially Myers, who was great at that in Game One, it didn't look like a big deal at the time but it does now, don't it?

2. Don't touch the Flyers. Skate away from every scrum, don't lay a finger on any of them. In short, play gay (ie. Flyers "Hockey")!

3. Loft the puck out of the zone. If you are being rushed into a bad decision, or nobody is helping to support the puck in your zone, exhale and loft it out. Aim for center ice, make it a jump ball situation.

4. Get the puck to the front of the net and crash the net. Boucher is not Dominic Hasek. He's Boucher. SO you WILL score goals on him if you aggressively attack the front of the net. get in his kitchen and rattle some pots and pans, spit a juicy hocker right into his home made pizza sauce. Write "Homo" on his kitchen apron. Do Something.

Very well put....Especially #4. The biggest issue I've seen is when the Flyers are up they play a very tight trap style and the Sabres are having a horrible time just getting into the zone. The best thing to do is keep them at bay with a tie or a lead. Then they will keep playing an offensive style instead of a defensive trap.
