I don’t like Richards, and would love to see him suspended, but I don’t think that would be right.
It seems to me like (at least most of the time) if you get a major and no game misconduct, there’s no suspension.
For me, Kaleta did a great job to draw that penalty, but it should have just been two minutes.
There have definitely been some screwy calls against us, but so far, the majority of bad calls have gone against philly, not us.

Richards can go motherfuck himself, and the rest of his team. I hate him, and everyone else wearing a Flyers jersey, or coaching from the bench. Fuck them to hell.

I can't believe Richards was "surprised" that he got a major for that elbow. I mean, it was as clear as day that he was aiming the elbow at Kaleta's face to "brace" for the hit. What a fucking crybaby. And saying that the Sabres were "getting away with murder"? Really?

Bob McKenzie, who I respect but has shown an agenda against Kaleta in the past, advocated Richards putting his elbow up into Kaleta when Kaleta was coming in by saying he'd have done the same. Cute.

Should he be suspended for 1 game- No doubt about it
But will he be- NHL won't suspend him

What a dick...what would David Booth do if he saw Richards coming at him on a similar play

I also hope the Sabres plan on sending the league tape of what Carcillo did to Miller in the 3rd. He Crosschecked him, Slashed him twice (although the puck was kind of nearby the one time), Interfered with him and then naturally he Dove to embellish a call when Miller finally tried to regain his crease by shoving him in the chest.

Coincidental minors?!

I am way more afraid of the refs than the Flyers in this series. When the teams just play hockey the Sabres are better.

His effeminate sounding voice made it all the more annoying.

But hey, if the league wants headshot out of the game then there should be no debate. Richards sits for Game 5, they can all go jerk off homeless people in Philly.

Really? People think there should be/wanted a suspension on that play? I was shocked he got 5. That was a hockey play. Seen it a hundred times and we'll see it a hundred more. Obviously not the cleanest play but not a suspendable play by any means.

You know what else was a hockey play?

McSorely two handing Brashear in the head.

Guess that shouldn't have been a suspension either.

there's no reason raising your elbow to strike someone is considered a hockey play.

I think I'm with you on this one. It wasn't the cleanest play, but I think there was at least an element of self-defense in it. If the NHL is going to try to judge based on intent to injure, I'm not sure I can definitely say Richards had intent to injure.

Defending yourself and two handing a guy to the face are completely different and you know that Tom.

Gordie Howe made a living off of doing it. Mark Messier same thing. It was a hockey play, nothing more. No intent to injure which is what suspensions are based on.

if you're an athlete, you know that when you raise an elbow it's not for self defense, you're using a weapon to deter a hit or to hurt the guy hitting you. it's not like it's an evolutionary response.

messier and howe have nothing to do with the NHL since the lockout. it's a different game.

He threw the elbow up in self defense. No intent to injure, no suspension. Elbows aren't weapons, the plastic covering your elbow can be a weapon if used properly. But in this situation the elbow wasn't used as a weapon adn was never intended to be used as a weapon.
