Honestly I would like to see us offersheet Berglund and Oshie from St. Louis. Both young, talented centers (only thing I don't like is that neither one is above 50% on faceoffs). I don't think St. Louis would let them both walk, but I think if the price was high enough they might not match both either.

I agree with Oshie and Berglund. But the one guy off ST. Louis that would be dynamite would be Backes. The guy has playoff performer written all over him. But I doubt St. Louis let him go.

Out of Oshie and Berglund who'd you think be a better pick-up?

It would take a crazy offer sheet to get Oshie...There might be a chance with Berglund but I guess it would take an overpayment to get him.

Aaaand Oshie doesn't have a good reputation. Got suspended at least one time for not showing up at practice, maybe 2.

I wouldn't say he'd be a total waste of money. He'd give us at least 3-4 solid years. Guy's only 30.

He was a no show in the game Dallas needed to win to make the playoffs at the end of this year.

Plenty of Sabres were a no show in game 7.

Don't we have enough Brad Richards style players? Smaller side, skilled, doesn't hit on the fore-check...Maybe nobody as good as Richards but come on already. And to tie up 7+ million in cap space for him? This is a contract year for Myers, and he's going to bump up the cap by AT LEAST 4 million the following year, so...

i don't think myers is worth 5-6 million.

plus it's an RFA contract. i could see 2-3 years at 3.5 mil. but i'm not prepared to break the bank on someone i'm really not enthralled with.

Re: Oshie and Berglund - Both guys basically put up Connolly pts, around 50-60 in a full season so their cost won't be astronomical, but the fact that they're young will drive it up a bit.

I'm thinking Darcy uses the first rounder + to land a center at the draft.

Because he's a goal scorer and we don't have many of those.

Brad Richards is a playmaker. He can score but he's not a "goal-scorer" by definition.

yeah but a guy who can reach 90 points and got 28 goals and 77 points this year is a good signing.

Richards had a goal and assist and 7 SOG in that last game. I wish Buffalo had some no-shows like that.

A certain PPG player at 31 years old is a player Buffalo could not just use, but needs right now. He's going to get overpaid no matter what teams he ends up with, that's just a fact that has to be accepted. Do we want him on another team getting overpaid, or on our team getting overpaid and filling a gigantic hole in the line-up with an all-star? A cap savy contract still leaves enough room to sign a top UFA d-man. Hecht, Boyes, Gaustad, and Morrisonn are potentially coming off the books in 2012. Hecht and Morrisonn's cap hits alone leave enough room to re-sign Myers and Ennis that summer when they become RFAs. I still expect Richards to end up on one of the big market teams with a retarded GM that gives him a full 9.5 mil per season, but Buffalo should still want to be in that hunt.

I'm not saying we shouldn't. I'm just saying if our need is a goal scorer he's not the answer.

I don't see many great players in unrestricted free agency this year that could help this team get over the hump. I could possibly see money being thrown at Curtis Glencross but I highly doubt Richards comes to Buffalo. The rumors are New York and possibly Los Angeles. I think Darcy has to make a trade to acquire a number 1 center or top line player. The problem is their are a ton of teams that need top line players not only buffalo. I don't see many moves coming without breaking the bank like the Kings did to acquire Penner. They gave up alot for him and he wasn't worth what they gave up.

Wouldn't a playmaker be the one helping set up our goal scorers then so we take care of two birds with one stone?

To me, if we get a great playmaker. That leaves more space for everyone on the ice. A great passer to get our scorers a puck on their sticks. Seems to me we actually need a great playmaker for vanek, stafford, pominville and the others.
