Well, it's not like we stopped any sort of war. We killed a man who deserved it, and it should be a joy-filled occasion, but it's not the ending of terrorism.

Clearly not, but kill the figure head of any major organization, and it is a severe blow to morale, and leadership.

Dude, I'm getting a bazillion texts from military buddies. Most of them are more worried about what tomorrow will bring overseas but they are happy as hell.

Agreed, that douchebag Gaddafi is still out there and it is far from over in Libya. Bright spot is at least some of his family was killed a couple days ago.

I'm stoked he's dead but I'm a little put off by the tone used the President yesterday.
"Yet today's achievement is a testament to the greatness of our country and the determination of the American people."

Taking a decade to kill 1 asshole is a testament to our greatness? We didn't put people on mars or end our use of fossil fuels...we killed 1 terrorist.
Psychologically it's a win but that's about as far as this victory goes.

It's about time.

All I hope is there isn't someone ten times worse than Osama getting in line to run Al-Qaeda.

I liked this, though I understand your point. I took it as a shout out to the work done by our military over the past 10-11 years. Morale has been pretty low overseas for awhile now and this was nice to hear.

Well, he spent several minutes giving the shout-out to the military which they greatly deserved...I just don't see how this was a testament to America's greatness...

We discovered him hiding in a military compound of a country we've been paying billions of dollars to pretend they're our friend...that's fucking embarrassing if you ask me.

Like I said...I'm glad he's dead and it's a psychological win, but that's about it.

Now we need to cut these assholes in Pakistan loose and let India take care of them.

Cross couldn't post without making at least some critique of and beef with Obama.

I think that (maybe) this combined with the popular uprisings in the Middle East could be a turning point in relations between the West and the Muslim world. I'm hoping the youth of the world will now look to each other, and not bin Laden or his type, for inspiration and support.

Well, it wasn't just bin Laden we killed over the years. We also killed other influential al-Qaeda members, too. We were weakening al-Qaeda, but this was a great killing blow. Although there will be repercussions for killing him, there's no doubt in my mind about that. His followers and admirers will retaliate in some way.
