We all need to get over this. Even his detractors knew that he would do well in another system. That's that.

He was always an opportunist. And that goal was Max, in his element. Simple.

We have to realize that the most important component in the equation (besides the changing of the "New NHL" back to the next NHL) was Lindy; his system, his methodology, his motivational and communication skills and his nightly game-plan.

...not to mention any personal animosity that had grown between the both of them.

I booed him, even though I liked him, and still do.

It was hilarious, the first time he only had the puck it was for a split second, and like 10% of the people booed causing the crowd to laugh. Then he had the puck a few seconds later and the crowd did it right. It was kind of a welcome back, more of a we like you, but we're booing because we're supposed to. It wasn't malicious until the end of the game and we were losing.

I think Max and Marty are the only former Sabres its acceptable to cheer for, and even then in very specific circumstances.

i disagree. he was the last link to the teams prior glory days: the hasek era. you shouldnt boo someome who gave an honest effort for your team for so long.

I see 2 Sabres that shouldn't be here still and one that should be if he were willing to accept 800K to finish out his career in Buffalo. Interesting that all 3 are in a photo of a goal celebration that secured the team's first loss this season.

yup. and nearly had 2 assists last night in addition to the goal. he set up Atlanta's first goal with a nice pass on the PP.

max wasnt coming back to buffalo under any circumstance. buffalo wasnt signing max under any circumstance.

max is 30, so depending on this season, 800K wasnt going to shore up a "lifetime" deal for max.

Also, please note their defensive play, their contributions to special teams, and all the other reasons why Pominville is a much better player to have the Max.

In any event, the Max era in Buffalo was over a long time ago, and I wish him well (except when he plays us).

One Game...One Goal...good for Max. I mean he rocked for us int he past and then somethign happened...he slipped and never came back. I hope he destroys team (not us) and make goalies look like bitches. He deserves it for being a Sabres for so damn long. Now on to the next game.

There was a point in time I liked max, but like he even said, he played for the fans, not exactly what the team needed.

Entertainment player only. He was, by definition, a liability.

Points for having a hot girlfriend though.
