Cracked.com is an acceptable means of killing time anywhere, at any time, no matter what. Have tests and papers due the next day? Screw 'em. Cracked is better.

Cracked is the only one they haven't blocked at work (Yet), and thank god. It has some of the best BS and yet true to life things what will make you go, "HOLYSHITFUCKIDIDNTTHINKTHATWASTRUE!" stuff on the web.

Love the read on thrash metal on that site!

I was too afraid to go to sites like that when I worked. I tried to stick to things that were a bit more safe for work like hockey forums and wikipedia. Though when I interned, I went to the Tucker Max Message Board a lot.

lol, I was the same, man. Then, I discovered our IT guy was a big time stoner and could care less as to what we surf. Just so happened that "Big Brother" gave him a list of sites that were blocked and would trigger a red light when anyone would try to access them. So, being a good friend that he is, he passed them onto me as a heads up. For example, I can't access ebay.com or ebay.ca But tonight, I made a purchase on ebay.co.uk for a Vanek 40th T-Shirt with no problem  In my position, I'm supposed to bust the chops of those who frequent sites which aren't permitted on the floor. But shit, who am I to do so? Wait, I do that anyway. I guess that makes me a bastard/asshole after all

Side note, anyone wanting the read.. Here is the thrash metal link from cracked.com

Cruel.com used to be pretty cool. Lots of strange, random stuff on there. That's where I stumbled upon MCHawking, among other things.

Yeah at my internship, I don't think they had a dedicated IT person, just someone else in a different job that helped out with IT stuff when necessary. I know when the internet went down (which brings can engineering firm to a screeching halt since all the software licenses don't work) they contracted someone to fix it. I don't even know if they had any sort of filter, I don't remember anything being blocked, but I tried to keep it relatively clean.

At my actual job, I ran into our filter a ton of times, most of them during lunch and most of them on accident (i.e. trying to get resident info to call regarding a proposed easement from yellowpages.com and getting blocked for trying to access a "social networking" site.)

I've yet to meet an IT guy that filters things because they want to. They do it because they are told to.

It's sometimes a legitimate reason too. We pay a couple thousand a month for a circuit from our call center to my office, where they get their internet access from. Historically, 85% of the traffic coming over that link has nothing to do with work, so really we're paying for something we don't need so people can fuck off instead of working. :)

I dunno man, if she thinks of you like that, and is less upset about the whole matter now, maybe you've given her something to think about?

Glass half full approach?

ive met the girl twice. both times i guess i was charming *rubs knuckles on shirt* but i have no way of contacting her. i guess her boyfriend is a weirdo and theyve been official for a month and hes confessed his undying love for her, and shes all.. uh... what? she didnt act like a girl in a happy relationship. but then again, neither does my buddy, and he has a fiance.
