http://www.wivb.com/dpp/news/erie/Former-Sabre-arrested-for-domestic-violence

Quote:
AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - Former Buffalo Sabre Matthew Barnaby was arrested Friday night, charged with domestic violence.

Amherst Police responded to a location at 6:15 p.m. and found serious damage to property. The location is being kept private to protect two female victims, who police say were not injured.

The former right winger was arrested and charged with second degree criminal contempt, harassment, second degree criminal trespass, and second degree criminal mischief. Police say after leaving the location, he made angry phone calls, and Barnaby has also been charged with aggravated harassment via a cell phone.

Barnaby, who turned 38 just over a week ago, will spend Friday night in jail and be arraigned Saturday morning in Amherst Town Court. He played for the Sabres from 1992-1993 and from 1998-1999.

What you said, Beth. Some people have already condemned his soul to Hell, but innocent until proven guilty and all that.

I'd like to point out that Barnaby was NOT charged with physical violence against a person. He was basically charged with property damage, trespass, and verbal harassment over the phone.

Too many people are jumping to the conclusion that he hit a woman, and based on the charges that's not accurate.

I think the biggest question in all of this is what the girls did to deserve this.

Burn dinner?
Flirt with another man?
Recorded over his latest NHL analysis on ESPN?

Once we find out exactly what the women did wrong, then we can accurately judge Barnaby for his disciplinary actions.

The problem, Tom, is that EVERY single news outlet is using domestic dispute (which it very well was) but when people see the word "domestic" they automatically assume ZOMG BEAT UP HIS WIFE!

That second part is what annoys me most. Yes, what he did WAS domestic violence, but this assumption that he kicked her ass? Just dumb.

We'd get along just fine in person, but this innerwebs thing gets in the way.

I bet she didn't make him a sammich when he asked, and that is a no-no.

Breaking a bunch of shit in your house and screaming is a far cry from black eyes and split lips. Curious as to what really happened.

I feel the same way. In the county I work in the dispatch center dispatches all domestics that involves someone throwing things or breaking things domestic violence. I completely disagree with that. It should be (like it was in the past) a domestic dispute.....Domestic violence should be reserved for actual violence against a person

I put a hammer through my drywall in the garage and yelled at it after I hit my thumb. Is that domestic violence?

As long as he didn't put the beat down to her I don't really give a damn.
