According to this AP story in the NYT, all the Sabres need to do is find a replacement parent club for the Pirates and they're good to go.

Make it easy. Swap with Florda. haha of course they would have to agree to it, but who knows they most likely wont.

They probably will actually. Rochester was sick of Florida, because, well, Florida sucks.

I'd be sad if Portland had to deal with the Panthers, but at the same time I'd love to have the Amerks back.

There are a bunch of affiliations up in the air this offseason, from what I've read. The Sabres will have a cornucopia of different parent teams to offer the Pirates in order to facilitate this sale and affiliation switch going through.

I kind of like this Pegula fellow as owner. We should probably keep him.

(I'm going for understatement of the year here)

Wow, I feel bad for the Pirates fans. I imagine they'll hate us now... :(

So the closest teams to Portland would be Boston, NYR, NYI and Jersey. Are any of them in search of a closer affiliate?

apparently, this sale could spell the end of the knighthawks though. they cant be owned by pegula. theyd need a new owner.

This sale won't do anything to the Knighthawks.

Copypasta from a post of mine on HF:
"Curt Styres won't have any problem selling off the Amerks so that he can focus on the K'Hawks. He's a lacrosse man who is the K'Hawks general manager and is the uncle of Cody Jamieson, their star rookie. He bought the Amerks and K'Hawks primarily for the K'Hawks.

Besides, there are the fears and doubts that Styres wants to take the K'Hawks across the border into Canada."

NLL team owned by the same man who owns the Amerks and the Bandits' bitter, hated rival.

30 seconds of looking at the Democrat and Chronicle's website would have told you that's not a problem for the reasons Phil mentioned.

BTW, Hamilton is the rumored destination for the K'Hawks. It's where Styres' other lacrosse team, the MLL's Nationals, play.

If the Amerks sale goes through, I would prefer Styres move the K'Hawks to Hamilton to be honest.

i don't think very many people in rochester would be hurt by that greatly. i honestly can't think of anyone i know who ever goes to their games or supports the khawks.

granted thats just a general assumption and i dont really know much about their attendance records or anything.

Because the affected teams are, you know, in Rochester.

When I want to know more details about the Coyotes situation, I look at AZCentral or the Glendale News-Press. For the Thrashers, it's the AJC. It makes sense to me to look at the local reporting on a topic for more depth and details.
