BTW, Hamilton is the rumored destination for the K'Hawks. It's where Styres' other lacrosse team, the MLL's Nationals, play.

If the Amerks sale goes through, I would prefer Styres move the K'Hawks to Hamilton to be honest.

i don't think very many people in rochester would be hurt by that greatly. i honestly can't think of anyone i know who ever goes to their games or supports the khawks.

granted thats just a general assumption and i dont really know much about their attendance records or anything.

I'd be pretty upset if they moved them to Hamilton. My family has had season tickets for more than ten years. I've met a few of the players and had two of the old coaches over for dinner. My Dad was even able to go out onto the field during their 1997 Championship win against the Bandits and take pictures of them hoisting the cup. He made a huge poster for one of the players (Duane Jacobs I believe) and sent it to him. We have the copy in my basement hanging up.

Here's the album of the pictures that I could find - http://s596.photobucket.com/albums/tt45/Ryan911T/1997%20MILL%20Championship%20Game/

i dunno, no big deal i guess.

Because the affected teams are, you know, in Rochester.

When I want to know more details about the Coyotes situation, I look at AZCentral or the Glendale News-Press. For the Thrashers, it's the AJC. It makes sense to me to look at the local reporting on a topic for more depth and details.

it also, you know, makes sense, you know, to read the stories in a national news reporting service like yahoo or espn. so no, he didn't check the local news. he assumed the story on the bigger site would say the important things. not everyone needs to be an investigative reporter.

It's really not that big a deal. I don't think taking 5 minutes to google for some local papers qualifies as investigative reporting, but maybe that's just me.

not gonna lie, i'm from rochester and the d&c was actually one of the last places i looked for info on the sale. i especially wouldn't expect anyone not from here to go there for info, either. buffalo news and national news first.

i went to espn.com, went to the NHL section, saw "sabres purchasing amerks" clicked it, and it said something about the uncertainty surrounding the khawks, boom, posted here. not a big deal.

One last note on the K'Hawks playing at the BCA: While the Amerks still have (I think) 3 or 4 years left on their arena lease, the K'Hawks' just expired. My guess is they play their one more season and then move.

why would you just expect they move? lacrosse doesn't do well enough to really pick and choose where they go and stay.

I think for the fans that love the K'Hawks would just about die if they had to move.

The RD&C isn't really that bad, it's definitely had it's down time, but I grew up with it, and I don't hate it yet :P.

But, if there's a really good reason to move them , that benefits the business of it all, then I'd be OK with that. I just hope they keep the loyal K'Hawks fans in their minds first and foremost.

I don't just expect they would move. Styres has been rumored to be looking at moving the K'Hawks to Hamilton since he bought them and the Amerks. He's already moved one of his teams (MLL Nationals) to Hamilton, and there's a lot of chatter that he'll do the same with the K'Hawks if he gets league approval.

Dineen being hired by the Panthers could provide the Sabres with their out, if he has his way

Take it at face value, but the Amerks blog @LetsGoAmerks tweeted earlier that a league source said the Sabres' purchase of the Amerks is almost done.

Also earlier, @MEHockeyJournal tweeted that he believes when the AHL BOG convenes in 7-10 days to vote on the Moose moving to St. John's that the Sabres buying the Amerks will also be an order of business.

I can't speak for the veracity of Lets Go Amerks, but if Chris from MHJ believes something is happening then I'm inclined to believe him.

i'm getting too ahead of myself over here.. checking out amerks season ticket prices-- which would probably change if we do end up owning them? but still.. it's only $350 max for half the home games. seems like a hell of a deal.

So what will happen to Rochester's NLL team? Any news on that?

For now, it's assumed that they'll stay at the BCA

I'm assuming that if the Moose move to St. John's then they won't change divisions correct?

Can't happen. A purchase of the Amerks by Pegula also comes with the Knighthawks. Since the Sabres own the Bandits, obv NLL says conflict of interest. Styres already gave up the world for the 1st overall pick for Cody Jamieson, his nephew in 2010. He's selling the 'Merks to Pegula sans the Hawks and movin em to Hamilton...

Uh, no.

The Knighthawks are not part of the transaction. They've never been part of the transaction. The Amerks will be sold to Pegula, and then the KHawks and Amerks will have separate leases at BCA.
