I get your point (although it was lost on another) but just for the record, he made up for it later in the game by scoring a goal.

And just to throw my 2 cents into the rest of this "discussion", there's a huge difference in styles between Zet and TV. HUGE. Comparing their character is one thing, but other than that I don't see the point in comparing a fast skater and a net front guy. May as well compare Coffey and Langway next.

Everybody has to deal with team mates. Maybe if a guy was -1 or -2 or something, you could point to a couple of errors made by team mates, but -6 and -7 show a different story to me.

Both of those guys were outplayed 5 on 5, and both of them need to be much better if this team expects to win a cup. That's all I'm saying.

I don't even think the argument is for being bad, even if he did have the worst 5 on 5 play of any skater.

But it's the fact he has to have a bigger impact. He's a sabresjunkie proclaimed "leader" and we have a lot invested in him. He cannot be a guy that doesn't hit or block shots or stand up for teammates.

He should be a beast, and really what he was was just a wrap around on the powerplay guy. He didn't add anything else to the team.

Watching Vanek time and time again get EASILY handled by other teams' defenseman on the rush during 5 on 5 play was pretty frustrating for me.

I'll give him this though; he did it all with a pretty mangled finger, and it's possible that it threw him off pretty seriously. Hell, Hecht couldn't manage to play with it during the playoffs last year.

Would it be accurate to say that Vanek is the Patrick Marleau of the team in that he's very invisible in the playoffs? Maybe not as much, but I don't know. Vanek's got size. I'm not sure why he doesn't really use it along the boards.

And it's not his lack of goals or surplus of goals that startle me. He could have scored 20 goals in 7 games, but if you have a terrible plus minus and cannot get it done 5 on 5, it's not a good thing.

And you hit it spot on. Just like afinogenov, Connolly, kotalik, they don't get stuff done along the boards with their size.

I don't think I could pull that off no matter how hard I tried.
