I've heard a Philosophy similar to this on the belief of God. If you believe, its a win-win because if there is a god, you get eternal salvation. If there isn't then nothing bad happens to you and you just rot in the ground (more of a "break even"). If you don't believe then it's a lose-lose because if there is a god you burn in hell and if there isn't a god you just rot in the ground and are not able to say "I told you so!"

That's neither here nor there though.
