It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

Nothing has been decided. RJ and Black just came to this agreement within the last week. They've made no decisions about what they want to do for the other games, and are only now starting to really think about it.

Of course, that means everyone on Twitter is flipping shit about it.

I haven't seen anyone on Twitter do anything even REMOTELY close to losing one's shit.

When they do decide who the B team is, I'd hope for Dan Dunleavy on PBP.

I'd like Dunleavy as well.

My definition of losing one's shit on this was the constant whining this morning about who they would put in place, even though Black isn't even close to figuring that out yet. Whining about a person who might not even be under consideration is pretty dumb to me.

I honestly like Kevin Sylvester's play-by-play.

Don't hate me. I'm probably in the minority.

He's pretty good. I don't mind him at all.

RJ should just say, look, im done, ill come back for the playoffs. i remember the late days of harry carey, and him constantly hacking up lung butter inbetween pitches. it wasnt pleasant to listen to. RJ isnt there yet, but i definitely remember thinking throughout the year "gee, this guy doesnt sound to well."

Oh yeah, I can jive with that.

I liked Kevin's style of play by play. It was good and had his own little flair.. just sometimes he got to excited for the other team lol.. I like my announcers to be homers to an extent. Still my dream announcer would be Gary Thorne for road games.

I wonder if anyone will ever be as good as Gary Thorne. It didn't matter what teams were playing, he was great every game.

RJ in general is very good, but sometimes his "SHO-ot" call and some others gets annoying. This past season he really sounded down at times, and I really felt bad for him knowing that he's near the end and wants to call a Stanley Cup clinching game just once.

My guess is that he'll work less and less, potentially retiring in a season or two, with the full invite to call a finals series if Buffalo gets there before he dies.

I don't mind Sylvester at all. He's a little more quiet (which I don't mind) and he's pretty smooth with the puck movement. Harry Neale isn't bad, but he kind of annoys me and I'd prefer Ray as the full time color guy.

This.

I also think Kevin Sylvester did a pretty damn good job this year. Much better than previous years.

This is exactly what I've been calling for for the past year or two, allowing RJ to do the 41 home games, plus away games against some of the closer markets like Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, and Columbus.

As far as potential replacements, I feel that MJ, Dunleavy, and Sylvester could all be adequate replacements, though all have various levels of raw-ness right now that comes with inexperience. I don't remember Dunleavy much, but in my opinion MJ finds himself behind the play a lot because he isn't used to the speed of the NHL and Sylvester often gets a bit ahead of himself and talks his way into an awkward corner when something unexpected happens.

I can't remember who he is, but I (think) I really liked the guy from Hamilton? Does that sound right? I don't know who for a color partner, maybe Rob Ray. That way he works ALL the games and provides some continuity.

Actually, I'm fine with the way they're going to do it. We've been really lucky to get Jeanneret for basically every game (minus the last few West Coasts for the past few seasons.) Most teams don't get their guys for that. Hell, some teams don't even get coverage of almost every single game like we do.

We've been lucky to have some of the best announcers in sports here in Buffalo, between Ted Darling (who I never heard, but I'm sure I would have loved him), Jeanneret, Van Miller, and hell, even John Murphy has come into his own. We've been pretty damn spoiled, but that we get to keep Jeanneret for home games and allow some other up-and-comer to grow on us, I'm perfectly fine with this setup.
