Per Darren Dreger :

Quote:
Sources tell TSN Colin Campbell is giving up role as NHL disciplinarian. Brendan Shanahan will likely take over.

I like the move. I have faith that Shanny will be much better at this than Campbell.

DAMMIT! Twice in two days! Meh, Doctor Who is a worthy distraction :)

I think it's a brilliant decision by the league.

Just fortunate timing, and a degree in copypasta.

It's about time! That guy had absolutely NO credibility what-so-ever. Wheel of Discipline, indeed! Seeing as Shanahan can't really do any worse, do you think he will still tend to favor/disfavor any teams or people?

I would have more faith in a paperweight than Campbell, but has Shanahan been out of the league long enough to avoid hearings with guys he's played with/against? The same accusations could be thrown his way if some people feel there are still fresh relationships with some players or coaches. I would've thought a condidate with the same position from another league would get that job before a recently retired player. Even still, I like Shanahan and wish him luck. How much worse could it be?

Read & witnessed by all of Sabres Junkie-dom, your words will now be recorded indelibly, to be thrown back in your face at a later date. ;)

i'd put my faith in shanny above most else. that guy is all character, and I bet you he doesn't disappoint. you'll see a bunch of suspensions in oct-dec and then the players know there will be no leeway. plus you'll get a guy that has played the game at an extremely high level and will be better off saying whether something was indeed a "hockey play" or not.

It's well known that he favors the Whalers in all disputes.

Woah...how did I miss this piece of news? I've always liked Shanahan...we have the same birthday!

I'm glad, he was very incompetent!
