Stafford's agent works for Sheehy Hockey. Sheehy Hockey just tweeted:

Look for a news tonight out of Buffalo on Sheehy Hockey client Drew Stafford.

So yeah, keep an eye on that.

Per Mike Harrington, $16M over 4 years. A bit higher than I would've preferred, but I'll take it.

Hmm, not sure if I like this. If he keeps playing like last season I'm ok with it, if he goes back to his non-contract-year play I hate it.

You could say that about every player ever.

Cap Geek shows four years and 16 mil...4 mil per season. Uh, yeah...that's pretty high for one good season. He better damn sure keep his pace up now. About 30-40 goals each season and 60-70 pts will make it fair.

A little higher than what I would have paid out for him, but if he can keep the same mindset and keep the pace, if not dig a bit deeper this upcoming season, then cool. I'm good with this deal.

If he turns into Helen Keller again, then kick this SOB to the curb.

Congratulations to him, and his. And to the Sabres organization as well, for if he plays like he did last season he will be worth every penny for years to come!

I figured 3.5-4.5 depending on the length of the contract, so this was expected. Of course you always have to worry about the cap ceiling, but I think Stafford will be the long term replacement for Pomminville when his contract is up or if he gets traded. That's just the way the business goes.

Would you say this if it was 3.5 a year for 4 years? 500K is peanuts. If he doesn't produce like he's expected to, it's an obvious overpayment. If he does, it's an obvious bargain. I'm happy with this deal.
