I'm not exactly nervous about being there, but I am sort of confused as to what the aim of the night is. Are we all just gonna sit there and shoot the breeze? Quick look at the construction going on with the dressing rooms? I'd be happy with just tossing back a couple of beers and starting questions to Ted Black and Terry Pegula with "Look, dude..."

As I told Phil tonight, it will probably end up being a shitshow. Out of the bloggers that I know who are going, about half of them are post lockout fans that do not take any kind of criticism kindly, and openly poo poo on anyone who dares put forth a contrary opinion. One particular person likes to get on other people for 'acting smart about hockey', while at the same time trying to act smart about hockey.

The other half are reasonable people like Phil and Caro who I think understand what the role of bloggers are in the grand scheme of things, and don't think they're some sort of gift to the game.

There's at least another 10-15 people who are whining incessantly about not being invited. Once those folks start crying to the Sabres, I'd predict that future get togethers would cease. As it is, I guarantee that at least two people will demand press box access, because their 50 reader a day blog is SOOOOO important.

I like the idea, but it will end poorly.

A couple people actually told me to demand press access, to which I replied with "Whatdya, retarded?" As a blogger, I'm grateful the organization even has the foresight to repair the damage the Quinn administration did to the new media crowd. If the insecure bloggers were smart, they'd treat this as I've been treating it since I got the email invite: be courteous and thankful and don't burn this newly-completed bridge on our first visit.

I'm not going, nor should I have been invited. I don't write nearly that much for my blog or Phil's. I'm just too busy.

I know Kate is going, and also Chris Ryndak, which is amusing considering he works for WECK and is pretty much a normal media member. I used to like Kate's blog a lot, but my more recent exchanges with her have soured me.

Oh I thought she wasn't going...I remember when people first got the invites she said she had a prior work-related commitment.

Last I heard she was, but maybe that changed. I haven't been paying as much attention to most of the folks on Twitter recently being summer and all.

Well you're probably right, because the last time I saw something was when the e-mails were first sent out. I feel like most of the bloggers I follow on Twitter aren't going so I have nooo idea what to expect.

I'm working on my post now. Heather from Top Shelf and Chris from TGR already did theirs. It was awesome. Aside from the nitty-gritty question-asking going on, I thought it was totally cool that we were drinking beers and eating pizza with the president of the Sabres. I think he said shit at one point too after the live-stream portion ended.
