Is there any possible way we could expand the maximum avatar size? I know it takes up more space, but I haven't been able to find a picture that fits the 180x180 criteria in a long time.

Make an account on Tinypic/Photobucket and upload your avatar to there. It's easy to resize photos on there, and then you can also use the account to stop hotlinking things.
