dont forget felix schutz, too. both ze germans took off. i only personally saw gogulla play in one game, but he looked like he coulda been some help up in buffalo, too. :snooty:

At first I din't like the pick, but the more I thought about it the more I like it. The kid was ranked top 10 all year. Did he slip because his play slipped or because others improved their play more? Also 35 straight NA picks and then Darcy takes a Euro when a consensus team need pick is on the boards. Bob Mackenzie said the sabres really like Armia, and the last time the Sabres really liked a player it was Myers. I'm gonna wait and see on this one. It's another boom or bust player, and with the talent we have in our system, I'm ok with this pick.

I can see that side, too. I honestly don't know anything about the European prospects, so I'll take your word for it.

This team has drafted well the last 4 years, so I'll trust their judgment on this one, albeit tentatively...

Regehr had originally held off on waiving his no-move clause to accept a trade to Buffalo but later changed his mind. Sabres owner Terry Pegula was reportedly very influential in Regehr's eventual decision.

Man I love Pegula... So involved with the team. NHL's answer to Mark Cuban? haha

He admitted that he made the final decision when options changed. The reported other option for Regehr was San Jose. Then San Jose traded for Brent Burns.

All the sweet talk in the world by Pegula wouldn't have mattered if San Jose made a formal pitch for Regehr.

That being said, that Pegula's pitch was strong enough to get a veteran with clout in the NHLPA and around the league to consider waiving his NMC to come here is HUGE.

No problem with Kotz hate. I hate him. I'm just not beating my dog over it. Kotz will more than likely be bought out and if not he'll be shipped to Rochester. Even with my dislike for his play I can understand that there is nothing to worry about.


The general belief is that we took Kotalik's monstrosity of a contract so that we wouldn't have to give Ennis up. They apparently wanted Ennis straight up for Regher.

I am still kind of meh about this trade. I think there are better defenseman out in the free agent market then Regehr.
