I hope Montador is gone, I could not stand him at all after the all star break

I honestly don't mind that so much.

Where is Sekera??

Because your just looking at it from Buffalo's side, knowing (assuming) that Kotalik gets dumped to Rochester. From Calgary's side, getting rid of his contract is a HUGE favor that they were willing to compensate us for.

Think about this...if this is just a straight up trade for Kotalik, no GM sends Calgary a player in return. They would expect ANOTHER player/prospect/pick from Calgary for taking on such a useless contract. So no, Calgary did not get fleeced, but we still clearly win if Pegula is willing to dump Kotalik in Rochester.

I'm ok with that. When he sucks, he's going to Rochester no matter what

I fixed it. ;)

I'd personally pay for his flight to Europe.

Darcy on WGR, doesn't sound like he's done tinkering with the defense

FLEECED!

This has to be Darcy's best deal in a very long time. Butler is terrible and Byron is just too damn small(And I mean weight wise). Regehr and a 2nd round pick is a steal. I don't count Kotalik because I can see him getting moved and hopefully before the end of this draft.

Catenacci was the first overall pick by the Soo in 2009 and last year he was by far there best player on the Greyhounds. I really hope he get bigger though.

I hope not. I still want another top four / top two d-man, but it might have to wait until next week.

Buffalo gave up the rights to one player, and another player that is a few years away from regular NHL duty. In return, they got a top 25 NHL defenseman and a 2nd.

What Buffalo gave up is nothing compared to what they got back. Screw Kotalik, he's not going to be here anyway, so he's not even worth discussing.

It's a good trade by Darcy, I agree, but not a fleecing. Butler was on the upswing towards the end of the season so his development will a factor, but I still like it. I also still want another legit d-man added.

I agree the Butler and Byron for Regehr is a hell of a trade for Buffalo. Regehr is the guy this team needs and Butler is expendable with as many defenseman we have coming and Byron even though he is fast and probably won't be that bad is just too tiny.(weight wise)

Right, I agree, but Calgary didn't get smoked in this equation either. They were able to get off the hook of a 3 mil contract that wasn't going to give them a damn thing on the ice. 3 mil in cap relief from a horrible mistake contract is a giant favor, so Calgary DID NOT get robbed or anything here. Both teams got what they wanted.

We have a ton of defenceman on the way so I would have rather seen Butler leave than Sekera. It was a great move finally by Darcy. Not liking Kotalik but hey he's darn good in the shootout's.

The more exciting part is that i actually believe for once that we are NOWHERE near close to done. And a couple HUGE moves to be exact.

They got what they wanted, but thy certainly did not get good value. There's a difference in my eyes

The value for them comes when they can get an actual player that will contribute for 3 mil (or less) instead a big slug that can't skate or play defense. That's the big favor that evens things out.
