I will be ridiculously happy with our defensive corps if the Sabres manage to ink him

i'm really excited about this one. I wonder why talks went sour on the island though. hope he isn't looking for an overpayment and talks don't break down here, too.

Apparently he wants more than $5 million a year...so yeah, sounds like he's looking for money. I wonder if Pegula will be able to make him believe in the organization which maybe will make him want to stay and sign for less. Who knows...anything is possible with Pegula in charge it seems! ;)

I'm really glad we're being proactive, but I don't know if this guy is worth over 5 million...maybe 3 or 4

5.5 over 5 is more than fair value for him. He's still youngish, put up 40+ points in 3 consecutive seasons, and adds experience on both PP, and even strength, not to mention some physicality and shot blocking. Huge upgrade over Montador, and will be a nice asset to have with Weber or Leopold.

40+ point defenders are damn near impossible to find in this league, and we'd have potentially 3 of them if Myers, and Leopold improve slightly.

I'm going to guess that we are done if we want to pay our guys next year.

Hopefully we can sign him around 5 mil, i'm quite excited that we just got 2 very good defensemen.

Ugh. I have a feeling we just wasted a draft pick. I really think this guy just wants to test free agency. I hope Darcy set it up so that we give them a 6th or 7th if he moves on to UFA which I am almost positive he will. Then sign with Detroit.

On that note, Morrisson, Hecht, Boyes, Kotalik, and Gaustad all come off the books next year. Plenty of room for Tyler Myers with nearly 29M in capspace available.

Furthermore, this contract will be the precedent that determines Myers value, considering the numbers are very similar, and all. I'm sure Myers agent is looking in the 7M range, while the Sabres are saying 4.5-5M...so fair is fair, whatever deal Ehrhoff gets will be similar to what Myers gets.

True. Although I hope we keep Goose, and depending on his play, Hecht

Ugh I hope we don't sign Hecht. He kind of represents the stuff we want to get away from.
