it's a fourth round pick...diamonds in the rough are tougher in the nhl than the nfl. i'll take established players almost every time.

You guys kill me, If we didn't think we could ink him, we wouldn't have traded for him. Especially since we draft so well in late rounds. We're going to be at the very least the team that sets the bar on him, and if someone wants to pay him 6.5M a year, then so be it, but I doubt we traded for him, just to make noise.

that's what the islanders thought

The Islanders did it right, they gave him 24 hours, set the asking price bar (at 4 years 5M) and realized they couldn't afford the guy. We know what the bar is he's asking. It's going to be long term in the 5.5 to 6M range. The Islanders went in blind, we aren't there's a big difference.

Well if we sign him for 5.5 and sign Weber to like $1 million, Sekera to $2 million, and Enroth to $1.5 million then we are at like $62 million. But if we drop Kotalik, Sekera, and Boyes we are at 53. Or keep Sekera and drop Hecht its about the same. Still ways to be in the running for Richards I suppose

Boyes, Hecht, Kotalik, Gaustad and Morrisonn having their deals come off the books should give us more than enough space to resign both Tylers.

also, theres no way darcys done after this, soneone has to be moved to clear up more cap room for a center.

If you guys are banking on us signing Richards July 1st, you're 85% going to be very disappointed, especially with teams like Habs, Kings, Wings, Rangers, and Leafs having as much cap space and money to spend as they do.

I dont plan on it at all but the point is there is still a possibility and I think thats what everyone is running with

with a d that is exponentially better, a #1 center isn't a necessity at the moment.

roy is more than capable of the offense needed out of the first scoring line this year.

True, but this beats the hell out of previous years, when we were speculating who would bolt from us on July 1st
