For those of you that weren't aware of Regehr's car accident that nearly ended his career in 1999,

It's a good read

Tim Connolly has had 10 years to show what he can do in Buffalo. He was close to being a point per game player. Injuries plagued him. This past season was his make or break season. He underachieved in point production. Do the Sabres want to take a risk on him for one more season?

If we remain short on center after Darcy Regier is unable to acquire one, then Connolly should be considered to play in special teams situations.

I guess players can't have an off year or one bad year because if they do sabretooth thinks they automatically suck.

Hate to break it to you but without Connolly last year we would not had finished above 15th. He might have played bad but he was still a reason we got back to where we were and with him getting injured in the playoffs, it was a huge blow to the team especially on the pk.

I'm not saying to sign Tim Connolly. By no means did I ever say that.

However, if we do sign Timmy C, he better not be in Rochester. He may not be appealing to you, but by no means is he an AHL player. He can still play in the NHL at a decent level. He brings good defensive skills to the table. He's a great PKer.

There's no doubt that Timmy is great on the PK, but frankly that's not why you sign him. This team needs centers who get points (primary assists, especially) and are strong up the middle of the ice. Frankly, we play far too much in our own zone. We have enough Grier's, Neidermeyers, Gaustads, McCormicks, Hechts, Connolly's who all do some things well....but you win games by scoring goals and we have too many role players who don't.

Vanek and Stafford could be one of the top lines in the league with good center. You just don't resign Stafford at $4M a season and have Vanek playing into a $6.3-6.8M a season contract and put Ensign Ricky between them.

Its time that Darcy thins out the herd and finds a center with more offensive capabilities. Just check the rosters of the teams who made it into and deep into the playoffs. What do most of all of them have...really good centers.

Two 30 goal scorers. Playing with a center with whom he has some chemistry with is there much doubt that Vanek nets tallies in the mid 40s?

If we had centers better at holding the middle of the ice and who had some offensive punch, we wouldn't need to have such a great PK.

Does that mean a name? Probably, but not definitely. I mean much of the league and fans who don't live in the northeast still don't know who Patrice Bergereon is, but man I'd love to see him center Vanek and Stafford.

Its getting really hard to continue to hate the Bruins when they keep getting players I like to watch play.

The two teams that made the finals didn't make it that far because of their Centers alone.

Both had world class goalies, studs on defense, and a team that could score on every line at any time.

Philly had probably the best Center depth out of every team in these playoffs this year, look at what it got them, two traded away and a second round sweep.

It takes a complete team where you can roll 3 forward lines that can score and a goalie who is playing the best he can at the time.

Centers helped both teams an ass load.

Umm no Boston had by far the best centers and hence them winning the cup and Vancouver's were not half bad either.

Glad to he joined the Sabres.
