After 14 offseasons could this be Darcy's finest?

I mean its not Gratton for Briere yet, but if he netted Regher, signed Gerbe to a deal which still has him an RFA at the end of it, and got a 7th round pick for a player he wasn't likely going to resign. (I kinda feel bad for the Hawks...Dustin to Montador in 2 years...not that Monty is bad, just not on Buff's level.)

If he nets Erhoff and does something positive with the center position .... NHL exec of the year. Thus far its like Brian Burke minus all the salary waste and misses.

Somehow, I think Drury is back on this roster and this team is really high on Luke Adam enough to put out an offer for Richards but walk away if he doesn't take it. But maybe that's just hte Scooge of offseasons' past talking....

I wish Steve well, (except when he plays the Sabres) he worked hard for this team.

FYI that Festivus video made me like Stafford a lot more.

Really thinking there will be that "The BAND IS ON THE FIELD!" moment this season.

I seriously doubt they get Drury. His injury is going to keep him out long term. Not worth it. If he were healthy, I wouldn't be shocked (since there's a serious lack of FA centers).

What's the story on his knee? Is it better or does he need surgery?

I read that the damage was potentially career ending. http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/rangers/ ... &FEEDNAME=

Article goes on to say he can't be bought out either, so we know that has changed. Article is almost 2 weeks old.

PatGreen has it right. Drury could have prevented the Rangers from buying him out because of his knee injury. There then would have been a fight over if it was caused by play, or degenerative, but Drury decided to skip all that and not challenge it.

Very true. With about $15M of the $40M being paid out in the first 2 years of the contract, I'm not sure how much money is there for Richards, or a top 6 forward this year.

What would be nice is if we could have a "Marchand" result out of someone like Luke Adam.

The cap hit is averaged out so the front loaded money doesn't have any effect. Every year his actual salary changes, but the cap hit stays the same. That's how every NHL contract is.

No, there was no conditional option in that trade.
