Why in the world would any player sign with only a day or two left before free agency starts. If I'm Ehrhoff I don't sign and wait until July 1st to hear all 30 teams offers before I decide where I go. You waited this long why not wait 2 more days.

Ask the ones that have already done that this week.

Most of those players stayed on the team that they play for. Only Philly had the goalie that I can recall. And he got mega-money. Plus they already have a decent team that really only needed goaltending.

Doesn't matter. They could have tested the market and decided not to. That was your point. Don't come back in and put qualifiers on it now.

Not true.

I specifically said that I was sceptical but I wanted to see what he would do without Quinn over his shoulder. So did a bunch of us. He even had a few cheerleaders saying how it was all Quinn and Tom who he had to cover for.

Yeah, I hated Regier before Pegula got here...All he did was draft Roy, Vanek, Miller, Pommers, Weber, Myers, Ennis, Grags, Enroth, Stafford, and set this team up to be a contender on an extreme budget...that bastard, he sucks, because he never got Kovalchuk, Hossa, or any overpaid superstar...bastard!!!!

Squanto don't get me wrong I'm glad that Darcy is being active but I don't want them overpaying for Ehrhoff who isn't even worth the amount that one team will be shelling out for his services. Ehrhoff's stats are deceiving anyways the guy plays with one of the most offensive teams out there and almost everyone is going to be putting up points. I wanted Bieska in the worst way unfortunately he was one of those guys that stayed in Vancouver. The money Ehrhoff is going to tie up will probably be a nice chunk of change.

I thought Darcy would come out swinging when the handcuffs come off but he exceeded my expectations so far.
I bet he feels the pressure to put a contender together now that he has all the resources.

I've been saying for years that Quinn and Goli were fucking with Darcy's mojo. I've criticized some of the moves he's made, but in all I just wanted to see him unleashed. Now he's trading UFA rights away instead of letting guys walk, trading for UFA rights to get the jump, taking salary dumps to get the player he wants, and has ownership's public approval to go after the big guns. I'm happy.

Its frustrating yet somewhat satisfying watching all he people who used to bag on Darcy being put in their place. I've been saying for years that Darcy was held back by Quinn and I'm glad to see that Quinn is gone and, more importantly, that my thoughts about Darcy's ability were correct.

The only time I was ever lashing out at Darcy was in 08 trying to understand why we had Kotalik and Hecht instead of gamers like Dumont.

Other than that he's been pretty solid.

I can admit when it was announced that T-Pegs was going to keep him in place after the purchase of the Sabres, I was still a little leery about his agenda moving forward. At the same time I had the thought to see what he could/would/can do with the right backing and with the chains taken off. I'll also add that it was fucking mind numbing trying to defend the guy when Pegula bought the team and people immediately wanted Darcy fired for the sake of firing him on sites like WGR and the Sabres facebook page. Ultimately, I gave up.

Now, I can honestly say it is fucking spectacular to know that Darcy and his staff are committed to the cause and want to put a winner on the ice, just as intensely as we want to see one.

Fucking spectacular, I say! :D

I was typically of the opinion that Regier's hands were tied. I just never thought it meshed well that a GM reportedly well-respected around the league would be terrible on his own terms; we've just never really seen his own terms until now, it seems.

i won't lie-- i was definitely of the belief that darcy was part of the "good is good enough." mentally the old management/owners had. darcy did nothing but pay lip service for them, and he really took the grunt of the fans hatred because of that.

seeing him with the chains off is like having a new gm in the organization, and i'll admit that. and i've said before on here about how i think what darcy has been doing and the moves he's made for this team so far are incredible steps in the right direction.

I enjoy what Darcy is doing, he has really gone balls out. Obviously I'm going to wait until the season before I get too excited, but this team looks good. Scary good.

If hating Darcy was an overreaction, the pendulum has swung to the other side and now people are ready to cannonize him. Remember it don't mean a thing until we see how it all plays out on the ice. If you could buy a Cup, then the Rangers would have had a few since '96.
