I just have never read any SB Nation blog that was anything other than opinion, or links to other blogs. I'm not shitting on the people or the platform; the opinion is generally ok, and the writing is at least readable.

I'm just saying that trusting 99% of these blogs to give you anything really insider and breaking is silly.

OldTimeHockey brought up a good point. This guy was terrible defensively in the playoffs. Although...he did play teams that just WILL score like San Jose and Boston.

I say give him his money, but don't go over 6 mil by any means. That is WAY too much for an offensive defensemen.

If he wants that much, let someone else overpay, and let's go get us a center.

Right, but I think that can be said about almost every single player in the playoffs. Whenever someone has a bad performance there is always an injury that comes out in the media.

Where as one of the players on the winning team may have to amputate one of their legs, and you'd never hear about it.

You know, we often see some pretty horrid playoff performances that are surprising, and it usually comes out that there was a significant injury hindering the player. Do you think that it's always in the best interest of the team to have players play through their injuries? Is it better to have one of your regulars at 60-70%, or one of your young guys chomping at the bit at 100%?

I'm just curious, how much of Ehrhoff have you watched SBF? Because he's fantastic in the transition game, he has a whale of a shot, and has tons of power play experience. All something the Sabres genuinely lack on their blueline with the exception of Myers, and a much less degree M.A.G.

He's exactly what we need. He's young, willing to play two way defense, and can QB a PP unit. Not to mention he had 52 hits and 108 blocked shots last season.

I think most fail to see what team he was on as well. The points will come on that team especially during the season. Who cares what happens during the season. I want a guy that shows up and makes his prescence felt in the playoffs. I just didn't see that out of him. I only seen Chara, Seidenberg, Boychuk, Bieska, and Hamhuis until he got injuried. Plus I forgot to mention he was a -13 in the playoffs which is the highest of all the Canucks. I just don't want them to overpay for a guy when there is plenty of d-man coming and he's decent at best.

I agree with the both of you. I would much rather go after Wisnewski than Ehrhoff. Hopefully we don't get ourselves into a mess by signing Ehrhoff to a ridiculous contract.

That's what I'm worried about.
It's funny when Wisnewski was on Anaheim he wasn't really standing out much until he was traded to NYI and then Montreal.

I just listened to the audio clip on WGR550.com and read the article about the Ehroff update, it sounds good so far and we hopefully will know something this afternoon. Things went South pretty quick between Erhoff & the Isles so the fact that we're already hearing something positive makes me optimistic.

To MY knowledge Jay Gold is little more than a blogger with an internet radio show...but I could be wrong.

Speculation at best

I don't like this guy, but his source was right on McCutcheon and the Regher trade parts well ahead of everyone.

IF this is true, I dont care what the dollars are, it means that we will be actively trading a defender + for a first line center, or cap space.

Like I said on HF just now, I'll vouch for Joe Pinzone as well.

I won't vouch for him, but I'll admit it when he's been right.

Don't know much about Joe Pinzone. Does he have good sources/contacts? Has he gotten the scoop on stuff before?

Sure sounds like Christian Ehrhoff is close to being a Buffalo Sabre. Will update when it's confirmed.
