I'd prefer him a lot more than Richards. That deal would be awesome, but I doubt they'd take it. Maybe if it was Poms instead of Kots

so, we shed 2+ more million and another sport at the wing logjam...what's the problem with that?

it's also the last piece we really need. i'm not above sekera, pominville or kotalik, a first, and a second. i don't mind overpaying a little for him, especially when it saves on age and price from richards and keeps up tight for a couple more years.

I was talking about would Colorado be more interested in taking a 70+ pt season player with leadership skills, or a lazy bum that scores 30-40 pts for one of their star players

Just in from WGR, the league will not block or have the Sabres alter the deal. So its official, we are an Ehrhoff deeper on the blueline.

This just in, I creamed my pants. Potential cap space left over has me close to a premie right now.

Sabres only have 7M left in cap space right now, but there is a 10% cushion during the summer, so the team really has 13M to work with while it fills out the roster and demotes or trades guys.

A big "FUCK YOU" is warranted to all those Darcy haters who disregarded the leash he was on and had blamed him for Black Sunday or Monday and other players he had to cut loose.

7million for a center or two is cutting it way too close without cutting out some dead weight.

Yeah, there need to be trades and/or demotions in order to take care of the roster.

I'm okay with the deal as long as it's not going to effect the signing of both Tyler's and or others. We still need a quality Center or two. I would like to see Morrisson gone get back something for him.

Next season Hecht's 3.525 cap hit will be gone, and Boyes' 4.0 mil will also be an option to clear out. Add in the few mil that the cap will be raised, and that's easily enough for the Tylers' raise.

Well, Morrisson's contract will come off the books after next season, so that'll free up $2 million and change in space.

It's not updated though for Ehrhoff.

Goose's 2.3 comes off the books too, which should help with the other smaller Tyler.

So... before I get all giddy and excited. Is anyone concerned about the fact that this is like... 10 years? This doesn't screw us with Tyler 1 or 2 does it?

Goose, Hecht, Boyes all come off the books after this season. Add to that the cap going up and they should be fine.

Check the post above you. We've got a fair amount of cap space coming off the books next season, along with the fact that the salary cap is very likely to increase again after next season. We should be in fine shape to retain both Tylers.

EDIT: Goddamn it, Phil.
