i don't knwo why everyone thinks kassian is a god. he hasn't even played in the AHL yet. i doubt he'll ever be better than a second line player, and that's if he reaches his potential and grows up. let's worry about kassian after we see him play in a more competitive league, please.

I like the way NHL Numbers reads and shows previous and future years, but that site doesn't get updated for months at a time. CapGeek is on the ball on a daily basis, and has the team/cap building feature.

Cap Geek beats NHL Numbers in every way but one - CG doesn't differentiate between forward positions.

Don't fool yourself about Kassian he is just the type of player this team needs. He's big, nasty and has skill. Kinda like Lucic. I would not trade this guy. I would much rather Buffalo get rid of Ales Kotalik. No-one here is saying he's god but he will be a pretty good player for us in the future.

i'm not fooling myself. all of you are. if he is as good as half of buffalo seems to think he'd be in the NHL. those kind of guys don't fly under the radar.

he won't play more than 20 games in buffalo this year and is still 2 years from a roster spot.

NHL Numbers also shows salary per year, with cap hit in a separate column, where CG shows cap hit per year, almost as if it's listing salary. That and the gray columns on NHL Numbers makes it an easier read, but an easier read doesn't compare to up-to-date figures.

Kassian is nothing but potential so far. Even if he develops all his current upsides, he still needs to become a better skater if he's going to be a legit top two power forward. For now he has no business on the big club.

That's just under Briere for Gratton.

And both are just below The Sabres 3-way deal to bring Hasek to Buffalo. The Sabres gave up Christian Ruuttu to Stephan Beauregard and then shipped Beauregard to the Blackhawks for Hasek. Ironically, the Hawks then traded Beauregard back to the Jets for Ruuttu. Either way, it was highway robbery.

10 years! VERY shocking, and I am cool with it! The cap hit is so low that you can always trade Erhoff if he turns into a douche bag. And if he actually stays for 10 years, he's more likely to be productive than an undersized/overly aggressive Bieska!

That same criticism STILL plagues Ryan Malone...

Malone proved himself, Kassian hasn't proven anything. Let him show up in camp, make an impression, and go from there. None of us know how he'll pan out until he shows a good camp or tears it up in Rochester.

I drank a bottle of German wine too celebrate the contract. And I immediately wished it was red instead of white....

There are two kinds of people in this world: those that have wine, and those that want wine...

Agreed, but I also wanted to point out that you don't have to be a great skater to excell in that role.

True, I just don't want him to be a defensive liability more than he already will be from his inexperience. I'll hope he can make the roster when Boyes' contract is up.

You're more likely to see him take a bad penalty than get burned. Expect 150-250 pim

Didn't he rank really high on a video game that caused a stir?
