Just got to thinking about this today. We have no captain. So what are your thoughts on who should wear the C?
For me personally I think it should be Vanek or Roy. Roy had a short but great season and can lead a team. Vanek has shown that he is clutch, is hard on himself and we he does good the team does good.

Vanek for sure. He's proven to be a leader on this team and a big producer. Anytime he has felt the pressure over the last two years hes gotten even better. I think it's a win win. Perfect fit for the C in mind. Roy with the A would be great as well.

Not gonna happen, and rightfully so. Even a born leader needs more than a season to earn that kind of respect.

Amazingly, I might have to go with Vanek as well. I say amazingly not because I think there's anything wrong with him, but because he's kind of an understated guy IMO. But I do agree he's shown leadership on the ice in the past couple years. I also don't know who I think would be any better, so he kind of wins by default.

I guess I'm odd man out, because I don't want Tommy to get it. I think he internalizes too much during rough patches. He worries, and gets down on himself. I think the C would put even more pressure on him. Roy is a leader, but I'm not sure he's a true captain. Personally, I like the Regehr idea from Dahlia.

Thought I would lighten up everyones day. lololol.

But the Vanman furrr shhuurrrrrrr.

Watching Vanek coming up was kind of awesome. He went from being a talented youngin' to being thrust into the limelight and then had money thrown at him. He had a hard time coping with it the first season but he has since not only assumed leadership responibility but also turned himself into a formidable two way player. He has worked his ass off for this and it would be a flick to the nuts if he didnt get it.

I hear what you're saying. But last time they slapped the C on a newly-acquired veteran D-man it didn't turn our so hot, and the move looked silly in hindsight. Not promoting someone who had been with the team a long time was part of that mistake IMO, so I'd like to see a promotion from within this time. Not many of the guys have been around very long except Roy, Vanek, Gaustad, Pominville, and Hecht.

Roy and Gaustad both captained their respective junior teams (I think in Roy's case anyway), but I don't really like either as captain. Pominville or Hecht...? I think they're both worthy of an A, but a C... not so much.

That leaves the T Van. (Hey, did I just figure out a really obvious reference in a username? Is that what Tvan is all about?)

It has to be Vanek. He proved, without a doubt, that he could be a leader last year when Roy went down.
