So, I just accepted a position working as a consultant to Xerox in Webster (just east of Rochester). I'm looking in the Park Ave area, do you guys have any recommendations? Thoughts, comments, etc are very welcome!

I've looked in Webster as well, and if I find myself with the urge to become a homeowner, that's probably where it'll be. Any info on the town/areas of the town?

Park Ave. is really nice. Check out East Ave. too, I think it's a bit higher-end there.

I found a place on East Ave that I liked when I was up there for the interview, but for the life of me, I can't get in touch with them.

Really, I think the East Ave./Park/University neighborhood you've been talking about is the only one within the actual city boundaries I would recommend. My mom lived there for about 10 years. It's the only neighborhood that has actual culture and amenities within walking distance. On the downside, it's also a bit of a yuppie/frat neighborhood, and I'm sure it'll be the highest prices in town. But you know what they say, location, location, location...

This. I'm more familiar with Henrietta and some areas in the city though.

Don't move to Henrietta. The traffic and congestion can get pretty bad.

Ehh, I've seen one bedroom apartments under $700, and that's about what I was looking for. I can't seem to find much in Webster, and I don't want to commute ACROSS Rochester (talking about living in Chili, etc).

Dude, he's dealt with Northern Virginia/DC traffic. "congestion" in Henrietta is nothing....trust me

Oh okay. Yeah, I wouldn't worry about that then.

i don't know how old you are, but i dont know if i'd go with park/east ave area if you don't want to hate everyone you live around.

if you'd want to live in the city, i'd say look around the south wedge. much quieter. close to everything that is on park/monroe/east ave. granted certain parts are still pretty rough, its generally a nice neighborhood, and rent around there usually is a great deal.

I'm 26... I'm actually looking at a few places on Barrington St - do you know where that is?

Because I knew that she has moved with you in the past, but the move to Rochester is a lot different. :)

That's awesome!

i do. thats a nice area. certain parts of culver rd are straight up ghetto, but the part barrington runs through is actually nice. plus then you wouldn't be far from donuts delite, which is pretty much the best place to get a donut in the world. :)
