Alan Rickman is officially the shit. Snape was by far the most interesting and deepest character in the series, and his portrayal of Severus went beyond doing the character justice. Also, big props to Helena Bonham Carter for getting Emma Watson's mannerisms as Hermione down pat so well when it came time to film the Gringotts Bank infiltration scene.

I thought the movie was very well done overall. A few complaints:

The final battle was kind of anti-climactic. In the book, everyone is huddled around Harry and Voldemort, who are pacing in circles around one another. In the movie, Voldemort died and no one was around to see it. Then, right after the MOST DANGEROUS DARK WIZARD OF ALL-TIME had met his demise, everyone just calmly went about their business, making small talk with one another like they were discussing the weather. The final confrontation the way it was shown in the movies just didn't do the book justice.

Another thing that bugged me was Percy Freaking Weasley. He basically disowned his family for a few books to become a ministry loving wanker, then he just shows up on the scene after everything is all said and done, and the Weasleys seem to be entirely cool with this. Am I missing something here? This could have all been avoided if they had just shown Fred's death the way it was written in the book. It explained everything.

Also, why oh why did they have to cut Dumbledore's battle with Grindelwald? I was so looking forward to seeing a memory of that! I knew there was little chance of it actually being shown, because it was merely described as "being the greatest duel ever fought between wizards according to eyewitnesses", but I really would have loved to have seen what Dumbledore was capable of at the height of his powers.

My final comment is that Dame Maggie Smith/Mcgonagall is a total BAMF. That is all.

I forgot to mention Helena Bonham Carter when she was Hermione. She was great and totally nailed all of Emma's mannerisms and facial expressions. The only thing that was annoying was that they used Emma's voice instead of Helena's. Polyjuice Potion is supposed to change their voices too.

I also didn't like how no one was around to watch Harry and Voldemort battle, and I also didn't like how when Harry revealed Snape's true allegience to Voldemort they were alone. Didn't Harry announce that in front of everyone at Hogwarts? Even though everyone eventually found out the truth behind Snape, it would have been nice to see Harry announce it in front of everyone since Snape was considered a traitor and a murderer at that point.

I had a feeling the movie wasn't going to show Dumbledore's battle with Grindelwald since the movie barely touched on Dumbledore's past in the first part of the movie. Movies just don't have enough run time to include everything and that's something they decided not to show...which is a shame because it gave more depth and insight into Dumbledore.

And it should be said that Maggie Smith was battling cancer during the filming of both movies, which is awesome that she battled through it and put out such a great performance.

I thought in all the previous movies that they always kept their voices when they took the polyjuice potion. Like when Hermione turned into a cat she wasn't meowing and I remember Ron still using his squeaky voice when him and Harry became Crabb and Goyle. Harry to elbow him and he made his voice sound deeper.

For some reason in the movies, they decided that polyjuice potion doesn't change their voices even though it does in the books.

Well in the books I'm pretty sure their voices change, and in the Goblet of Fire movie Barty Crouch Jr. was posing as Mad-Eye Moody the whole time and he had Mad-Eye's voice.

Pretty sure the voice thing was so that those who haven't read the books could follow, which is fine if it's any other movie based on a book, but when 400,000,000+ books have been sold, I think directors need to say "fuck you" to those that haven't read the books and just run with a movie that caters to fans.

Okay, I haven't read the books in a long time so I'm not sure if it was addressed in the book or not; but in the movie, the three ask Olivander whose wands they have. They had Bellatrix's and formerly, Draco's. When Hermione went to Gringott's as Bellatrix, they asked for Bellatrix's wand and they started to panic. They had the fucking wand! Why did they freak out?

If I remember, I think Gringotts was informed by Bellatrix that her wand had been stolen, so when they were asking for her wand I think they were trying to see if Hermione (as Bellatrix) had the wand that had been stolen because they were suspicious of imposters.

Pottermore opened. I'm currently sitting on a page that says there's overwhelming demand. Glad I decided to check tonight instead of tomorrow. I would be thrilled if I got in.

I remember before the seventh book came out, I used to read the speculation on the leaky cauldron forums for hours a day.

Okay!! Apparently the first few clues are going to be the hardest, and they will get easier later on.

Yeah, I read that, too. Everyone seems to think the first clue will be here at 3 AM EST, but I think it's any time after 3 AM. It's supposed to be random. JK Rowling should be really named JK Trolling. She's really doing a number on me!

If it doesn't release at 3 AM, I think Twitter will explode.

Also, rumor has it it has to deal with Diagon Alley in book 1. We shall see.

It's supposed to be this interactive thing where people can add to the story, like digital publishing, along with JK Rowling. This is for early beta access, although they're opening registration for everyone in October.

In order to get early access, you have the next 6 days to wait for a clue to go live on the site. Whatever the answer to the clue is, you add it at the end of this URL: quill.pottermore.com

Turns out, though, that while a clue is live, you don't even have to know the answer and just go right to Sony's main webpage because that's where it is. No clue necessary. It doesn't work right now, but only when the clue is live, which is at a random time once day. I don't even know which timezone they try to wait for or anything. You can read more about it here: https://www.pottermore.com/en/help#magical-quill

I really wish I was into the HP movies, because they made so many of them! It's weird, I love LotR, in fact I love that whole genre and pretty much all fantasy movies. But with HP, it's just meh...Actually, I don't care much for the Narnia movies either, so I dunno. But I hope all the kids get killed and that noseless dude wins. lol
