I saw that too, wonder what the cause of death is. Such sad.

Suicide,

It is tragic but considering his mental health issues it didnt come as shocking to me as Boogaard's but regardless it is still a sad time. He was a feisty one

Not being a dick, but is there a link about it being suicide? I just want to read about it, is all.

The RCMP is calling it a "sudden and non-suspicious" death. That's pretty much code for suicide.

I always liked him as a player. Even after the thing with the fan. He worked hard and wasn't afraid of anyone. He is gone way too soon. RIP.

If I had decided to jerk off instead, I probably wouldn't be paying child support...

Anybody ready to start talking about taking fighting out of the game yet?

I enjoy watching a good scrap as much as the next hockey fan. Still, a sport where guys make pro squads mainly based on their ability to play the "agitator" role needs to start taking a hard look at the effects on its players.

Let's look at one of everybody's favorites around here, Pat Kaleta. How many more seasons you think is left in that body? My guess is two maximum. (You can quote me. I hope I'm wrong.) Then what will his later life hold for him. Even if his mind stays sharp, I bet he'll be looking at some chronic pain for the majority of his life.

Yes, the refs have to call the game better. But when they don't, is it really worth all of this to live up to the unwritten code of machismo ethics? I'm not sure myself.
