The only way to get video game perfection is in a video game. Games played by people always will have a margin of error, a certain amount of which is part of the game itself. It is what makes for interesting conversations about the game the next day.

all these additional things is like having flood insurance in the mountains. its silly. i think the amount of goals called back because you cant see it is minimal at best. i honestly dont see the need for multiple cameras in the post. like the post above me said, a margin of error is fine by me. cameras in the pipes just seems unnecessary and a big hassle. they still dont help with obscured pucks, which is the big question mark IMO.

Obscured pucks aren't the major problem with video replay.

Inconsistant camera angles from arena to arena are the problem. Make the net cameras the same in every net, in every arena. Eliminate the uncertainty of having to guess angles based on where a camera might be placed.

Or refuse to change, and continue to see teams get fucked because of a flawed process. That's great for the game. /end sarcasm

i dont disagree overhead cameras are inconsistent (though i have a few theories on why. i posted one earlier. another is rafter/catwalk placement)

i honestly dont see teams getting fucked over enough to warrant a major overhaul. and overhead camera update (meaning all have to be at the same placement) is plausible.

i also wonder about MLBs "k-zone" bullshit and how accurate that is.

It's the angle of the overhead camera they use now that causes problems, because it is not at a perfect 90 degrees(because of the cross bar) It takes these dumb-asses in Toronto 10min to look at the same off angle footage over and over and still can not tell lol..

Now I know sometimes the puck goes in under players and gloves and such, this means its thref'sfs call on the ice(good or bad)

But if you can get that perfect angle camera shot with todays technology,it seems foolish not to go with it..With that perfect 90 degree shot it would take 10 sec to see white ice between the line and the puck without the optical illusions they get now from the overhead..

Just my thought anyway..I'm on the side of NOT making the NHL into a video game, but if we can better the technology they use now..I'm down..
