It is always hard to come back after a season ending injury. Some players totally rebound and others are never the same again. Who do you think will make the most significant contribution to their team after sitting out part of last season?

Sidney Crosby (concussion) - Pens
Evgeni Malkin (knee) - Pens
Chris Pronger (herniated disc, broken hand, foot) - Flyers
Daniel Alfredsson (back) - Sens
Mark Streit (shoulder) - Islanders
Taylor Hall (ankle) - Oilers
Derek Roy (torn quad tendon in left leg) - Sabres
Jonas Hiller (unknown illness) - Ducks

I think all of those guys will be what they were before their injuries, except for Roy and Hall.

Hall is young and can only get better, and I think Roy can do what he did last year based on his last game he did play for us in the playoffs.

If he can get back to form, Crosby is the best player of all on the list, so he's the safest bet IMO.

this may sound crazy... i dont know if we will ever see crosby lace em up again. im no doctor, but i know concussions can fuck you up. severely. as someone put it in an article, everyone is sort of annoyed at the penguins for not sharing anything about crosbys health. the reason they wont give any updates or anything is because they dont have a clue either. no else does either... call me crazy, if i was a betting man, id honestly bet we saw the last of crosby. man i hope im wrong.

There's always that possibility. Or the possibility that his concussion(s) changed the way he looks at life and the game. Not sure how I'd react if I suddenly found myself not able to do the things I used to do. Think it would scare the shit out of me for starters.

last time i had a concussion, i was playing forward and a team mate slapped the puck around the boards. it hit a stanchion, and hit me in the head. i didnt know what was going on, so i pretty much crawled to the bench and laid down. i actually went to the wrong bench.

now i have menieres disease. frequent head trauma can lead to it.

All that shit really scares me. Mental effects more than anything. I can understand getting older gradually and say, one day realizing you can't dunk anymore when you used to be able to. What would get me is all of a sudden not being able to react as fast, or to feel mentally like I'm underwater, unable to recall things that were second-nature a few weeks before. I saw what dementia did to my grandfather and it still breaks my heart thinking about it.

I picked Malkin, because something tells me Crosby either wont be well this season or wont be 100%, so Malkin will carry the load. Malkin looks like he recovered nicely (videos of his training in Russia).

Yes my thoughts exactly. I doubt Crosby is ever the same if/when he comes back. #settingasidemyhatredofhim
