What was painted, or what was the color beforehand.

I have no idea since I've only ever been to HSBC once in my life.

The wall around the top of the lower bowl. It was rose colored since the FN center was built.

False. Also, that's a horrible shade of red that doesn't even come close to matching that era's Sabres.

I'm not disputing your fact, that's just a really bad color.

Crossroads arena was built in 1996 and the Sabres switched to the goat in 1996...he's factually correct.

I won't get into an argument about various hues of red though.

i just realized something. look at the height of the glass on the penalty box. normal height. if you look at most games from the mid 90s, the side glass is really short. but in that picture from november 96 (the arena had just opened) its the normal height it is now.

now watch this:

at 2:25, look at the penalty box glass. its short. meaning they had to replace that glass within a month of opening the arena.

sorry, i notice shit like that.

First of all, I was saying "False" to the best uniforms comment. Secondly, I knew that was factually correct.

Third of all, the colors still are mishy-mashy because of the blue panels with section numbers. I feel as though the changing of colors and the opening of the arena may coincide, but I'm not exactly sure that the team used the colors around the arena simply because of the color change. I feel that they went with more or less of general colors.

I hope they are smart enough to sink some money into the visitors' locker room.

Yes, I know, the conventional wisdom is to make your locker room a palace, but give the visiting team crap. However, a comfortable, quality visitors' locker room is the first step in recruiting players. If they can say "the Sabres' visitor's locker is better than our home locker," then that is the start of changing the perception of Buffalo in the minds of potential free agents.

That was supposedly the plan. Everything is getting included in this project, including the visiting locker rooms. I know I saw it somewhere, so I'll look for more info on it.

EDIT: I found a link explaining what they'll be doing. Visiting locker room is being expanded and improved, from 3200 sq. ft. to 3511 sq. ft.

The color of the walls and the team colors coexisted for non-coincidental reasons.

It was a clean break from the aud/blue-gold to crossroads/red-black.

The execution of the interior of the arena may raise many questions, but the wall colors aint one.

I mean, if you've looked at any of the photos that have been posted, the visitors room is quite nice too.

That being said, I think you're overstating the importance of that room as a recruiting tool.

the red wings used to paint the locker room right before every game, so the locker room smelled like wet paint.

i also like that lloyd carr had michigans locker room painted in green and white with michigan states logo everywhere. it was to remind them that they were the big dog, and make sure they beat MSU.
