The Buffalo Sabres (1-0) begin a stretch of four games in five days as they travel to the Bell Centre in Montreal tonight to face the Canadiens (0-1). Game time is 7:30 p.m. (Radio only - WGR 550) This is also the first of five road games for Buffalo during the 2011 preseason. Buffalo opened the preseason with a 3-1 win over Carolina on Monday, while Montreal dropped a 6-3 decision at home to Dallas last night.

Jason Pominville will be in the Buffalo lineup tonight for the first time since injuring his ankle in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals in Philadelphia.

Buffalo and Montreal have played 20 preseason games all-time… The Sabres are 6-11-3 in preseason contests against the Canadiens… Buffalo is 3-6-2 all-time in the preseason at Montreal and 3-4-0 in Buffalo; the Sabres are 0-1-1 in two neutral site games. This is the fourth consecutive year that the teams will meet during the preseason. The last two meetings took place at Bell Centre, with the teams splitting the series. The Sabres won the 2010 game, 5-3, and the Canadiens won the 2009 game, 3-2. The 2008 matchup was played in Roberval, Que., where the Canadiens defeated the Sabres, 3-2.

The Sabres will visit the Habs for Buffalo’s fifth game of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The teams will meet a total of six times throughout the season. Their first matchup at First Niagara Center will take place on Friday, Feb. 17, with all three games in Buffalo taking place in February or March.

The Sabres are 135-146-48 all-time in the preseason… Buffalo is 22-10-2 in preseason action since the start of the 2005-06 season; they finished the 2010 preseason 4-2-0, going 2-0 at home.
