my nephew's turning 10 this weekend.. normally i'd just go buy him a new game for his xbox, but hes rehabbing a fractured ankle so my sister wants him to get some stuff thats gonna encourage him to get off the couch and go play outside some more.

i'm stuck on ideas here. so junkies, what are some good gifts for a 10 year old that will make him want to go outside and play? my sisters buying him a new skateboard, and last year my parents bought him a really nice bike, so those ideas are already out. i just need help because i was a total girly-girl as a kid and i did not like to play outside at his age. and since most of you know what it's like to be a 10 year old boy, i figure someone will have an idea that'd beat any of mine.

also, price isn't really too much of an object here ideally i'd spent less than $150, which should be plenty. i tend to spoil this boy for no real reason when he visits us.

Time tested tradition that has worked from past experience...

Couple hockey/tennis balls, a stick and a net. If price is not an object, then outfit the entire neighborhood's kids with gear and sit back and watch the awesomeness of the roots of the game take hold on your street! :P

you know that was one of my ideas. i definitely remember when my street used to look like that. now all i see is one basketball hoop, and these kids don't even yell "car!" and move when someone comes through. :snooty:

Sounds like a solid gift set...he should have some fun with the hockey gear, and the guitar is a really cool gift, by the time he's 16 if he works hard at it, he can be pulling those high school freshmen by being "guitar douche kid" at the party
