Neither has played yet in pre-season, and they are not going to play tonight in Buffalo against Toronto either. If they were seriously being considered for the starting squad they would be getting ice time. Keeping them out is a sure sign that Regier wants to avoid the possibility of them getting injured while he seeks trade options.

I can see Morrisonn as trade bait...I just don't see Kots garnering any interest.

Kinda a shame they don't have good contracts. i'd rather see them play before they get banished.

They signed Leggio to a one year deal on June 25 and then Whitmore on July 7, and then they waived them. WTF?

Godard might be interesting as a enforcer. Don't get me wrong I like McCormick but Godard is a tough sob, he did kick the crap out of Boogaard a few years back.

Waiving doesn't mean we cut them, it just means they are just subject to waivers because of age or NHL games played.

I know that. You can almost guarentee they don't get claimed and assigned to the AhL. It will save them for being 3mil over the cap if that does happen.

It's almost a guarantee that both players clear waivers. Then it's off to Rochester with no cap hit, just a big 5 mil that Pegula is willing to pay for AHL players. The problem will be when/if injuries require one of them to go through re-entry waivers. Either guy at half salary and half cap hit is reasonable for any team that might need them. If one gets plucked, Pegula is stuck paying half their salary and suffering half the cap hit for nothing. This basically means that both players will be stuck in Rochester and unavailable for the entire season, but at least there's only one year on each of their contracts.

Unavailable for the entire season? No man if they perform well in the AHL they WILL get called up. Morrison is making $2 mill so if someone picked him up Im 100% sure Pegula will be more than happy to pay $1 mill instead of $2 mill for basically the same production. And We do not have to mention Kotalik because I doubt anybody would be that desperate.

Kotalik could easily get snatched up on re-entry waivers. Come November if there is an injury to a bottom 6 forward, he's not a bad guy to have around, big body, great shot, will probably gather 25-30 points in a season, not a bad guy to have for 1.5M

I don't expect Shaone Morrisonn to come close to making it back through re-entry waivers; especially with several teams already needing defensive men after suspensions and injuries, he may even get claimed out right.

Jammerz, they WON'T get called up if, as it currently stands, either player would put Buffalo over the salary cap. That's IF they actually clear re-entry waivers. If they don't and another team claims one of them, Buffalo then has to take on half the cap hit without having that player at all. Buffalo would go from having the player in Rochester for no cap hit, only paying salary, to paying half salary AND taking on half the cap hit.

They won't be in a Sabres uniform again. With any luck they can get traded.

Crazy to think that Pegula will be paying 2 NHL players 5 million in salary to play on an AHL team that he spent 5 million on.
