Jammerz, they WON'T get called up if, as it currently stands, either player would put Buffalo over the salary cap. That's IF they actually clear re-entry waivers. Buffalo would go from having the player in Rochester for no cap hit, only paying salary, to paying half salary AND taking on half the cap hit.

They won't be in a Sabres uniform again. With any luck they can get traded.

Yep...Darcy said as much on his HNIC interview yesterday.

Ok Sabresfansince1980 I'm pretty sure everyone knows that a player wouldn't be called up if it intentionally makes the Sabres go over that cap. That's just common sense so no idea why you are pointing that out. Secondly Morrison makes $2.075 mill this upcoming season and taking on 1/2 of that ($1.0375) is cookie crumbs to Pegula and this new regime and it's only one year left on his contract so ya NM of a debate there.

I'm not saying we will gurantee see one of the 2 in a Sabres uniform all I am saying is that it's a good possibility if one is performing at a high level in Rochester then one or the other would get called up. And IMO Morrison is the only one out of the 2 who'd be snatched off re-entry waivers. Kotalik is done despite what others may think.

It is cookies crumbles, but if you only have .5 million in cap space, bringing him up would put us OVER the cap limit.

But I have no idea how much cap space we have.

I'm pointing out the cap issue because you stated rather vehemently that either would get re-called as long as they are playing well. It won't matter how well they play because there won't be enough cap space to even fit half Morrisonn's cap hit if he got snatched up on re-entry, unless the recall is due to a season ending injury to another player. The injured player's cap hit would then be replaced by the recalled player (if he even made through re-entry). Aside from injury though, the situation is just not feasible for either to play in Buffalo again.

The cap isn't an issue until October 1st, or whenever the waivers take into effect and your lines need to be set.

There would be no chance in hell that Morrisson and Kotalik get called up for injuries.

why? morrisson is a pretty good shutdown d-man who had one difficult season. he could be a serious asset should the sabres need a long term fill in.

Two words : re-entry waivers.

If they're called back up, they go on re-entry waivers. If they get claimed then, Sabres remain on the hook for 50% of the salary.

They don't want that.

personally, i wouldnt send morrisson down. id keep him as the number 7, send grags down (not because hes not good enough, but because i dont think sitting in the pressbox helps him at all) and call up grags should any injury arise, and alternate him and morrisson. once the kick ales to the curb, they are under the cap, no sweat.

Uh, no.

As of today they are 3.595M over, and that's without MAG in the calculation.

The rumor mill actually has Kotalik being loaned to a European team, rather than Rochester, The Amerks currently have 13 forwards on their roster if I remember right, and with Ellis/Adam going back down, would make 14, 15 if you include Kotalik.
