Leopold stays. he did nothing wrong last year to not have earned his spot this year. It should be Weber and Sekera as a third pair with Gragnani either sitting or sent back to the AHL for one more year.

He had some rough stretches, but that's not why I say he should be rotating with those other 2.

We need a physical presence on the back end, especially if Myers and Regher are going to be a pair. That's where Weber comes in. In my opinion, he can't be the one to sit.

Rotate the 3 offensive defensemen through the lineup to keep them all skating and fresh. It's not a punishment. It's a numbers game.

It doesn't have to be that complicated. Sekera and Grags can switch when Sekera slumps, otherwise Grags plays when anyone gets hurt.

If I was Lindy I'd do this.

Vanek-Leino-Stafford
Ennis-Roy-Pominville
Gerbe-Gaustad-Boyes
Hecht-McCormick-Kaleta

Myers-Regehr
Leopold-Ehroff
Gragnani-Sekera
Weber

I like that idea, but I don't like breaking up the Gerbe Gaustad Kaleta line. That line needs to stay together.

Also, my man out on defense wouldn't be Weber. I'd be rotating Leopold-Sekera-and Gragnani between games to keep them all skating and fresh.

Roy and Ennis were ridiculously good together earlier last season.

I don't like that idea about the Kaleta line ethier but boyes should not be on the 4th line. I also would not rotate Leopold/Sekera/MAG, I'd rather see Weber in that rotation. Leopold was one of this teams best offensive d-men last year, Sekera and Weber were all right and MAG had a good playoff.

Why does anyone think there will be a 3-way rotation on D? Gragnani will get plenty of ice time through injury, slump, or suspension. Leopold sure won't get rotated out for any reason but injury or suspension, same for Myers, Regehr, and Ehrhoff.

Pat, I wouldn't worry about Boyes being on a "4th" line. They won't get less ice time than the Gaustad line. I tend to think the top two lines will be even, and the bottom two lines will be even in ice time, unless one line really has it going or one slumps. I'd guess Roy and Leino lines 16-17 mins each, Gaustad and Hecht/McCormick/Adam lines 13-14 mins each.

I don't like the idea of breaking up Gerbe-Gaustad-Kaleta either, but I think it would be best to do so. I

think Kaleta and Gaustad would bring Gerbe's numbers down, as well as Boyes numbers being with

McCormick. Who knows though, the Gerbe line's defensive dominance/mayhem factor may benefit the

team more than boosted offensive numbers for Boyes and Gerbe if it's at the cost on breaking up a

good defensive grinding line.

Eventually, if Adam is truly ready at both ends of the rink, I'd like to see this...

Vanek-Roy-Pominville
Ennis-Leino-Stafford
Gerbe-Adam-Boyes
McCormick-Gaustad-Kaleta

When Kaleta gets hurt, Hecht or Ellis can move to LW and McCormick to RW.

Hecht can move to Rochester if Adam plays him out of a job this year. I'd call someone else up for an extra forward if that ever happens.
