Wait, can you nominate yourself?

I'd say it's just dick enough to work!

Like what was said, I feel Vanek has carried himself well and looks extremely confident. I think he is the best option for the "C" on the team. Give it to him until it's time for Myers to take over.
He looks like he's ready to lead this team and I finally feel that he will be able to embrace the captaincy role rather than buckle under the pressure as I had thought he would have done in previous years.

I'd say if Vanek gets the "C", there won't be any Myers take over. It'll be Vanek's until he leaves here, but I say if he gets the "C", we make every effort to re-sign him in three years when his contract's up.

If he doesn't get the "C", then it's Vanek's loss. He should be ready to lead this team by now.

Even if Vanek has it until he leaves, that still gives Myers captaincy when he's 30-32 (assuming Vanek retires with us, and he does so when he's approaching 40yo) and that would be when Myers is built and heavy and takes on a more Chara-type role, which I would be okay with. I don't think Pegula is going to have a problem with keeping Vanek though for 5m when his contract expires. But either way, I hope (no matter the time frame) that Vanek is our Captain, followed by Myers.

3 pages on a subject without a lot of general disagreement...man, we are desperate for the season to start.

There was that minor Rivet disagreement.

I liked Craig Rivet a lot, both as Captain and as a player. I feel that people kind of piled on him more than was necessary when his skills started to diminish. That defense had other flaws than Craig Rivet.

That having been said, I'm fine with whoever the players/coach name. They have the hours logged to be able to make that decision. From my perspective it looks like Vanek. Pominville is a solid guy, but he seems to have the charisma of a crumpled up paper towel to me. Vanek - C, Pominville - A, Gaustad - A would be my best guess if we keep the letters stationary. If not throw Hecht, Roy, and possibly Myers, Gerbe, Stafford, and Regehr into the mix.

I'm a strong proponent of having the players select their captain. Not only is he the leader on ice, but he should be their voice to the coaches when needed. Having the coach appoint the captain would be like having Management appoint the Union reps.

Couldn't be more certain that Vanek will get it. Between his on ice performance, his seniority and his awsome attitude the last two seasons he's earned it. I love how he talks about the team in interviews and how focused he is now.

I have a feeling it'll be either Regher or Vanek. Outside chance for Gaustad but I'm sure he will get an "A" for sure.

HELSINKI, Finland -- The Buffalo Sabres will have a team captain tonight.
Coach Lindy Ruff closed his morning news conference in Hartwall Arena by saying he will announce his captain when the team gathers for dinner tonight in Finland's capital city.
The Sabres have not had a "C" since sending Craig Rivet to Columbus at last season's trade deadline. Those in contention for the job include Thomas Vanek, Derek Roy, Robyn Regehr, Jason Pominville, Paul Gaustad and Tyler Myers.

Per Buffalo news.

I'm hoping for one of the "Rochester Core"
