Because the government shouldn't interfere with our personal lives. They shouldn't be making choices for us. It's antithetical to liberty.
It's human nature to mess with our consciousness. Even little kids do it. When they spin around in circles to make themselves dizzy, what do you think they're doing?
Laws shouldn't interfere with human nature, unless they're written in the defense of life itself. Why do you think the founding fathers of the U.S. wrote the unalienable rights of man to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," in that order within the declaration of independence?
Live and let live. Embrace freedom and liberty.
Exactly. Despite the fact that I would never use hard drugs (I admit to trying cocaine once), I still think they should be legal.
I smoke weed nearly every day, and I think people hate it based on false propaganda. To those that think it's more hazardous than cigarettes - it's not. It makes no sense that an organically grown plant with no other additives would be more dangerous to you than a cigarette, which is laced with nicotine and dozens of chemicals which are known carcinogens.
And compared to alcohol, which can be deadly if taken in excess, its short term danger is non-existent. It's impossible to OD on marijuana. There is no known level of THC overdose. And I love how people claim "well, people can drive high." What, like people don't drive drunk? And it's not even remotely the same thing. It's annoying when people who probably have never tried marijuana compare it to being drunk. When I'm drunk, I'm sloppy, have very little outside perception, am extremely inhibited and have bad reflexes. When I'm high, it's just a nice, chill and relaxing feeling that just puts me in a great mood.
It should be legal.
