That's not true, at all.

Most of the people I know who smoke can have normal conversations, and don't need to brag about the pot they smoke, because that's not what it's about.

Where are you guys finding these potheads? I used to smoke but not anymore but my best friend smokes everyday and never mentions it its like lighting a cigarette for him. And the thing about being lazy isnt true at all.. when i smoked the most was at work or going to work, and do you think I told everyone at work about how i was fried while i was there? No.

Should they legalize it.. Yes.. and tax the hell out of it.

Well, that's probably an age thing. I don't know how old you are but I guess your friends are rather young. Usually the younger the more they brag or talk about it because they think it's a big thing. When they get older and still smoke they will stop.

This. I can keep it to myself, and I'm completely functional when I'm high. And the people who feel the need to brag about it shouldn't keep it from being legal. It's like the high school kids who can't stop talking about how drunk they got at a party.

Let's stop making generalizations. There are very productive people that smoke weed, and the lazy people would be lazy regardless.

I know probably 10 people that smoke pot that are in their 40s and 50s...they're not exactly hard working or motivated people. Most of them are your "liberal arts" types...

Smoking pot certainly doesn't makle you cool or interesting like many of my old students think, but there are millions of pot-smokers in this country, and just as many of them are motivated and interesting as are there motivated and interesting people among those who don't.

I just don't understand the attraction to it.

In youth culture, it's definitely overblown. My students would write 4:20 in all the text books and shit like that, and I thought that was so lame. But really, it's a far less harmful substance than alcohol.

Well let me ask you this, have you ever smoked weed? People who smoke usually don't see the attraction to drinking. For one, weed is nowhere near as dangerous. Two, there are NO HANGOVERS from smoking marijuana - huge bonus if you've ever woken up from a drunken night feeling like death. Three, being high is a much better experience than being drunk - and I can be functional while high, but not while drunk.

And as for the fact that you seem to think no one who smokes is even marginally productive, my dad still smokes every day and he worked for the medical examiners office at ECMC before they laid off almost the entire department due to budget cuts. I smoke weed essentially every day, and I'm a full time chemistry student at UB who also works part time. Weed doesn't make you unproductive. Being lazy makes you unproductive. Stop equating the two.

as far as pot smokers being productive, sorry, ive seen way to many dumbasses do nothing but smoke and thats it.

if people wanna smoke, go for it. this crusade of "legalize it!" and trying to educate me on the subject is fucking stupid because i dont give a shit enough to even pretend to care about what they try to tell me. ive had people try to have me sign petitions to legalize it on streets. typically i just walk away because i dont care.

Plus, I'd much, much rather get high than get drunk. I don't like waking up after a night of drinking and sticking my head in the toilet the entire next day.

Stop with the generalizations. You keep equating pot smokers with lazy bums. They are NOT the same. And whether or not you agree, keeping marijuana illegal is anti-freedom. And it's funny, back in the days of alcohol prohibition, marijuana was legal. So should the "loser drunkards" who made their own moonshine have just shut up and maintained the status quo?
