Hotspot and tethering are two different things. Tethering is using your phone, usually over USB or bluetooth as a modem.

Of course, I can do both and it's true Verizon charges more for tethering but the hostspot feature is covered under my unlimited data plan...and the feature is built into my phone.
/at least I think...I don't actually pay my Verizon bill, my company does.

Apple sold 4 million 4s's in the first weekend alone...I'm guessing somewhere north of 85% of those were upgrades from a previous iPhone.

Well since I am on my parents cell phone plan they decided to surprise me for chirstmas and get me a smartphone.... so depending on what that is.... lol I think it will be the iPhone 4s, if so I am sure I will like it, if not then whatever it is probably a droid.

Patents most likely. They have their design and don't want people ripping it off as their own, and why would Apple actually help out a competitor? That's like asking Ferrari's F1 team to help out with McLaren-Mercedes in aerodynamic design.

Copyright infringement? I know it's absurd to think about, but they can copyright their design, but then again even copyrighted designs get cheap knock offs, think Rota wheels and every major wheel manufacturer.

So many loopholes anyways. I think it's just an epic troll job by Apple because they don't want to help Samsung out. Who knows, unless their really is a lawsuit going on? Is there?

theres a lawsuit going on. last week, apple tried to get samsung to remove several phones and tablets off store shelves. the court quickly told apple that wasnt going to happen.

they wont win the court case. but they sure as hell are trying to monopolize the electronic industry.

I forgot about that lawsuit, heard about it but never looked into it much. But one thing that Apple holds is a trademark registration by the European Union on a flat rounded corner rectangular device.

Not saying the lawsuit is right, but Samsung clearly broke that in the EU.

It is patent infringement, even the US case the judge said that. But Apple has trouble proving the validity of them. The Galaxy Tab does look almost identical to the iPad at a distance, every other tab it's easy to tell the difference.
